100man-nin no Hokuto Musou (100万人の北斗無双, Hyakuman-nin no Hokuto Musou; Literally: "One Million People's Unparalleled North Star") was a social game adaptation of Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage. It was one of many IPs created to celebrate the comic's 30th year anniversary.

Early registration began on Mobage on December 18, 2012. Beta testing started in January. The social game was intended to be a simultaneous launch with the sequel, but it was pushed back into mid 2013 to fix quality issues. It currently has 100,000 some odd registered players. Services ended on June 30, 2014.

Gameplay[]

The game is played in real-time, with timers for actions and music muting. Avatars have two consumable meters: Move and Fighting Spirit, which can be regenerated over time or instantly. To access the two major modes, Story and Versus, players need to consume either meter. Story is a story mode with thirteen chapters, where players can unlock additional scenarios, character cards, and experience. Versus is an open PvP mode that drains the Fighting Spirit meter, allowing players to select their opponent and win Versus Points and items. Players can also challenge rivals to matches, or form rematches, which grant double points and a rare card.

Combat in both modes involves an automated sequence between decks, with players controlling up to five cards at a time. The winner is determined by the highest Attack and Defense attributes. Results are posted through numerical points, and the final outcome is determined by the player with the most points. Players can skip card animations to view the final outcome. Each winning scuffle builds up the Musou meter, which can be activated for bonus points. Befriending other players also offers reinforcements, increasing the player's deck performance.

Cards[]

Each deck consists of a commander and four fighters, with commanders being the rarest or strongest card. Rarer character cards can be earned through events, summoning scrolls, or micropayments. The most basic deck is made up of character cards, with visuals and appearance matching both games. Dual personages earned from events have different abilities, and it's possible to form a deck with both versions of the same character.

Attack and Defense are the two main stats which affect a character card's usefulness in battle, yet they're assigned a secondary attribute to further determine their fighting characteristics. The three properties are:

  1. Power - higher chance of dealing critical hits
  2. Speed - increases the likelihood of activating innate skill/technique(s)
  3. Spirit - if this character wins a bout, the Musou meter will fill slightly faster

Technique cards can enhance a character's performance by equipping them with conditional buffs or damaging special moves. Matching fighting styles between characters and techinques grants a 20% or 30% bonus. These cards can be drawn for free daily and can be collected from battle. Players can strengthen character or technique cards by fusing their preferred cards with unwanted ones. Awakening involves merging a character card with an exact duplicate, strengthening their base stats and unlocking another technique slot. Rarity is separated into seven levels, with rarer cards having more levels and abilities.
