Role in GamesEdit
Deng Mao is featured in the Yellow Turban Rebellion in all Dynasty Warriors installments. In most games, he can generally be found right at the frontlines and is one of the first officers for the player to defeat. Sometimes, he tends to appear near Liu Bei's forces. In Dynasty Warriors 6, he guards the drawbridge north of the Han forces' main camp, while in Dynasty Warriors 7, he and Cheng Yuanzhi lead an attack on the villagers in the east. He aids Zhang Jiao in the latter's Hero scenario in Xtreme Legends after being rescued.
His stats in Romance of the Three Kingdoms are similar to those of the other Yellow Turban officers in that he has a decent war stat, but very low intelligence and politics. In the eleventh game, the "Deng" character on his unit flag is often glitched and causes the game to crash as soon as the player scrolls near his unit or one of his cities if he's a ruler.

Romance of the Three KingdomsEdit
In chapter 1 of the novel, Deng Mao accompanied a 50,000 strong army on an expedition against Han imperial forces. The enemy was comprised of just 500 volunteers led by Zou Jing. Liu Bei taunted the Yellow Turbans and Deng Mao was sent into battle. He was struck down in one blow by Zhang Fei, making Deng Mao the first victim of Zhang Fei's serpent blade.
