Fictional character.

Bian Xi (onyomi: Ben Ki) is a fictional member of the Yellow Turbans who later serves Cao Cao. He was one of the several generals slain by Guan Yu during his journey to reunite with his brothers.

Role in Games[]

Bian Xi's only appearance in Dynasty Warriors 4 is at the time when Guan Yu fled Xu Chang. He believes Guan Yu can't pass his gate, but that is proven wrong when Guan Yu cuts him down.

In Dynasty Warriors 5, Bian Xi makes his only appearance in Guan Yu's Escape. He defends the third pass when playing on Guan Yu's side and is easily cut down.

Bian Xi appears at the Yellow Turban Rebellion in Dynasty Warriors 6. In it, he acts as Zhang Liang's lieutenant at the beginning of the battle.

Dynasty Warriors 7 has him appear during Ou Xing's Rebellion in Wu's story as well as the battle of Yan Province in Wei's story as an enemy officer.

In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games, Bian Xi appears as an officer for the Yellow Turbans and later Cao Cao. As with most of the Yellow Turban officers, his war stat is above average, but all of his other stats are fairly low in comparison, making him a rather weak officer. The lack of a skill as well as the lack of expertise with any unit type add to that.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms[]

In the novel, Bian Xi was born in Bingzhou and was a renowned master of the shooting star weapon. In chapter 27, he was guardian of Sishui Pass and welcomed Guan Yu with false hospitality. Promising to explain Guan Yu's actions to Cao Cao, he invited his guest to visit Zhen Guo Temple where he had 200 troops waiting for an ambush. However, the priest of the temple, Pu Ji, revealed the ploy to Guan Yu. Having been forewarned, Guan Yu easily defeated the ambush and slew Bian Xi by cutting him in half.
