Dong Tuna (onyomi: Dōtona) is a fictional officer and cave governor who serves under the Nanman King Meng Huo. During the battle against Shu, Dong Tuna assists Meng Huo along with Ahui Nan and many others.

Role in Games[]

Dong Tuna often appears alongside Ahui Nan in the Nanman Campaign and other Nanman themed battles in Dynasty Warriors. When playing for the Nanman forces against Shu, Dong Tuna and Ahui Nan often tend to be impressed with Zhuge Liang's plans and may defect to the enemy. Helping them or certain allies out will often prevent the defection, otherwise they have to be defeated.

In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dong Tuna is an average officer with a decent war stat, but poor domestic skills.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms[]

In the novel, Dong Tuna is one of the chiefs of the “Three Ravines”. The chiefs were called into a meeting by Meng Huo and told that they would be rewarded a higher rank if they could rout the invaders. They were sent in three separate directions and each given 50,000 troops. Dong Tuna was sent to the left. In a ploy devised by Zhuge Liang, he was captured by Zhang Ni while escaping an attack launched by Zhao Yun and Wei Yan. Dong Tuna was treated well by his captors and was released by Zhuge Liang when he asked for his freedom.

With a force of 3,000 troops, he later volunteered to repel the encroaching forces of Ma Dai but failed. Enraged, Meng Huo accused Dong Tuna of sharing sympathies with Shu and nearly executed him. When other chieftains intervened, Dong Tuna was instead punished with a hundred beatings from a staff.

Convinced by other discontent chiefs to rebel, he gathered over a hundred men to take Meng Huo's head to deliver to Zhuge Liang. The mob was stopped by Meng Huo's guards, and the Nanman King was instead captured and brought before Shu's strategist. After Meng Huo's second return, Dong Tuna was killed to prevent any possible defections.
