Ziya is the main protagonist in Fengshen Yanyi 2 and Mystic Heroes. He is the only character that the player can use in his debut, but he is a normal selectable character in Mystic Heroes.

Role in Games

Ziya, an orphan boy raised by his grandfather, is known for causing trouble in the village. One day, he and his best friend Bai Chang discover a mysterious gate on a cliff. They meet Lilan, who needs their help, and together they save her from Savage Beasts. However, their village is attacked and burned down by more monsters. Lilan and Taigong Wang explain that they must close the gate to stop the chaos. Ziya's grandfather assigns him the task of stopping the monsters with Lilan. Along the way, they meet Ling Ya Xian, and Ziya's recklessness leads to Bai Chang's death. Determined to protect the land's peace, Ziya joins Lilan on her journey and becomes the group's leader. They face the Nine Dragon Sect and uncover many secrets.

At the end of the game, Ziya finds out that his father was friends with Hualing's father and his mother was his grandfather's daughter. They went to Mount Yu to have Ziya, who is part demon and part human. Ziya is a member of the Tao Clan and was created to save the world from the Source of Tao. He decides to seal it away to rescue Lilan. After defeating King Shou, Taigong Wang gives Ziya his iron whip to seal away the Source of Tao. Ziya returns to his village and sees Lilan's silhouette. In Mystic Heroes, Ziya goes with Lilan to the City of Ancients.

Personality

Ziya is a mischievous and curious young person who lacks foresight. He is confident and brave, but Bai Chang's sacrifice makes him realize his limitations. He learns from his mistakes and becomes righteous. Despite not fully understanding the magical world, he refuses to let others exploit it. Ziya is forgiving and forms close bonds, particularly with Lilan.

A Level 4 Skill Gauge grants unique Special Combinations with the character(s) who like Ziya the most; this sequence rewards yellow gems for defeated enemies.

Fighting Style

Since Ziya is the player's character in Fengshen Yanyi 2, his defeat in normal battle means the end of the game. It may be wise to equip him with a defensive paopei for high HP or a healing paopei if the player have trouble using him. His attack and defense stats are average and passable for enduring most boss fights. Ziya's attacks hit a lot of enemies, but he can't reach as far as his friends. He can do combos to make up for it and get bonuses after battles. Ziya's special power is getting more experience and gems. This is good for players who want to level up.

To do special moves, Ziya has to start them. If the player wants to keep up with the party, they should run fast. This is harder if the party is too strong. To make friends with other characters, ask for their help sometimes. But don't ask too much or they might not like Ziya anymore.

Ziya can also use magic from a special place called a grotto. When he marks an enemy, the player can use magic to attack them. This helps beat monsters and bosses faster. Marking enemies also gets blue gems.

Ziya is an overall balanced character- a bit below average in everything really, though he is notably the fastest physical attacker in Mystic Heroes. He loses a sword, but he gains various kicking attacks to create double hitting combos. They have good range and are easy to use. He can equip a variety of spells that can help the party and possesses average speed to help execute them. He is an ideal choice for beginners to the Warriors franchise.
