Sadakatsu Murai is one of the retainers of the Oda clan. Despite his long servitude to his lord Nobunaga, he would eventually meet his fated end at Honnōji, along with other Oda vassals.
Role in Games[]
In Samurai Warriors 2, he is one of the Oda vassals who did not go with Hideyoshi Hashiba but instead stayed with Nobunaga at Honnōji. He is one of the obstacles Mitsuhide has to face before attacking Nobunaga and is killed along with other vassals. In the Oda scenario, he is a struggling generic near Nijō castle with others and, if rescued, will head towards Nobutada to protect him. In the Akechi version, he is simply stationed near Nijō castle. In the Xtreme Legends expansion, he appears as an enemy in Motochika's gaiden version of Shikoku near Nobunaga and his main camp. He makes a solitary appearance at Honnōji in Samurai Warriors 3 to defend Nobunaga and dies.

Presumed that he born in Mino Province. In 1556, when the conflict between Oda Nobunaga and Oda Nobuyuki has started, he acted as a mediator in the truce. he was one of Oda's officers who traveled to Kyōto.
In 1573, he was become the administrator of Kyōto, along with Akechi Mitsuhide, Matsui Yūkan, Harada Naomasa and Takei Seki'an. In July 23, 1575, he received rank as Nagato-no-Kami. In October 19 of the same year, he act the messenger to Date Terumune.
In 1576, Nobunaga order him to oversee the reconstruction of Nijō Castle and he supervised the restoration of Kyōto in 1578. Which in that restoration, Emperor Ōgimachi and his aristocrat was visited.
During the incident at Honnōji, he was one of officer under Oda Nobutada and died in this incident. His sons, Sadanari and Seiji was died along with him.
