Sun Yi (onyomi: Son Yoku) is Sun Jian's third son and Xushi's husband. Both Zhang Zhao and Zhu Zhi nominated for him to succeed his older brother as successor or as a politician. He died before either of their expectations for his future could bear fruit. His son is Sun Song.

His design theme for Blast was to have him resemble Sun Ce and make his sash match his wife's design.

Roles in Games[]

Sun Yi appears in Romance of the Three Kingdoms as a decent military general with his war stat landing in the 70's. In contrast, his intelligence and politics stats are especially poor, landing somewhere in the 20's or lower while also possessing several negative traits when deployed in battle which ultimately render Sun Yi an unreliable officer. Usually a member of Sun Quan's army, the events portraying Sun Yi's death at the hands of Gui Lan and Dai Yuan have appeared as in-game events within the series.

Historical Information[]

Sun Yi was born in Fuchun, Wu District. While Sun Ce led troops to avenge their father's death in 192, Sun Yi was left behind to attend to internal affairs. He was reputed as a brave yet arrogant youth. According to the Dianlue, he was known for his martial arts skill and fiery personality which nearly matched Sun Ce. When Sun Ce was dying in 200, Zhang Zhao and Zhu Zhi pressed for him to chose Sun Yi as his successor. The issue was dropped when Sun Ce favored Sun Quan.

When his uncle, Wu Jing, suddenly died in 203, Sun Yi was appointed Administrator of Dangyang at twenty years old. Sun Yi tried to appoint Sheng Xian's former generals into the administration. Gai Lan and Dai Yuan conspired to rebel and colluded with another general, Bian Hong, to accomplish their goal. When Sun Quan was away on a campaign, Sun Yi sought to hold a meeting between the chiefs of the land. Before leaving his home, his wife warned him not to go. He went with a sword to defend himself. While drunk and unarmed, Sun Yi was murdered from behind by Bian Hong. His wife later made arrangements to avenge him.
