Discoveries are an additional feature introduced in New Horizons. Located in villages throughout the world, these findings are worth a fortune and help increase the player's adventure fame. The chances of seeing a discovery is determined by the villagers' friendship levels which can be raised with the entertain command. There is also a small possibility for crew members to desert upon finding a discovery; this automatically occurs if the player happens to find a monster. Although there are 98 villages in total, only 50 of them interchangeably appear per game.
In Daikoukai Jidai Gaiden, some discoveries are related to the story and cannot be found until the player unlocks new events to reveal their location.
Price rates offered by collectors vary between different ports. Note that João is unable to sell discoveries in Lisbon, though the rest are still open to him.
- Bordeaux - 100%
- Lisbon - 100%
- Alexandria - 80%
- Copenhagen - 80%
- Pisa - 60%
Alternatively, rulers may reward players with new ranks for giving them discoveries, though no money or fame will be earned.
