Wen Qin (onyomi: Bun Kin) is an officer who served under the Wei army and Wen Yang's father. He raised an unsuccessful revolt against Sima Shi alongside Guanqiu Jian after the former displaced Emperor Cao Fang. Joining Wu, he assisted with Zhuge Dan's Rebellion, but was eventually executed for requesting surrender.

Role in Games[]

In both Dynasty Warriors 7 and 8, Wen Qin first mutinies with another Wei officer, Guanqiu Jian. In the former, his son Wen Yang horribly wounds Sima Shi's face. Then during Zhuge Dan's rebellion, he is executed by the ex-Wei strategist when Wu is forced to retreat, though his sons manage to rejoin Wei.

In the latter, Wen Yang can be convinced to not follow his father's plans when he launches an ambush at Xuchang. Then after Sima Shi is spared in the hypothetical route, Wen Qin curses at his son upon being cornered. He is summarily executed without trial.

Wen Qin is notably different in both iterations. In 7, Wen Qin appears to be more braver and the voice of reason, even giving realistic advice to Zhuge Dan before he was executed by him as a concerned ally. He also fought Sima Shi personally together with his son, Wen Yang. In 8 however, Wen Qin appeared far more cowardly, and is notably more arrogant, and less sympathetic than his previous counterpart. He constantly refers to Zhuge Dan as a dog and insults him throughout the time they were together unlike in 7. It also appears he and Zhuge Dan had a role reversal, as Wen Qin appears to be more unreasonable rather than Zhuge Dan.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends has him continue appearing as a major figure in Jin's new stages. In a revised Battle of New Hefei Castle, Wen Qin will hold off the Wu forces attacking the eastern gate while the rest of the Wei army rushes to save Man Chong. In the revised third rebellion at Shouchun, Wen Qin is instead the leader of this rebellion. Falling for Zhuge Dan's false surrender, he is unaware that Zhuge Dan had hidden ambush troops, and if the Wei army's movements are unnoticed, will also open Shouchun's rear gate.

He plays a key role during Zhong Hui's personal DLC in Dynasty Warriors 9, where he and Zhuge Dan accompany Zhong Hui in eliminating Sima Zhao's forces shortly after defeating Shu at Chengdu. When Zhong Hui intends to declare his own independence, free from Wei, Wen Qin wholeheartedly supports the general throughout, and is amongst the loyal followers who greet Zhong Hui for his first day as the ruler of the land.

Wen Qin appears in Warriors Orochi 3 as the replacement officer for Zhuge Dan when the player uses the latter as one of their three officers.
