Fictional character.

Xiahou De (onyomi: Kakō Toku) is a fictional character from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. In the novel, he is Xiahou Dun's nephew, Xiahou Shang's older brother and an officer of Wei. He defended Mt. Tiandang from attack, but was killed by Yan Yan while trying to extinguish the latter's arson attack.

Role in Games[]

Dynasty Warriors 5 has Xiahou De only appear at Mt. Ding Jun when playing on Shu's side. He defends Mt. Tian Dang from Shu's assault. In order to capture the mountain, Xiahou De has to be killed.

He resumes his role as an officer at Mt. Ding Jun in Dynasty Warriors 6, appearing for both sides this time. Special gives him a more prominent role, appearing at Wu's He Fei and Wei's Xu Chang stages serving Wei and Cao Pi respectively.

In Shu's story in Dynasty Warriors 7, he defends Mt. Tiandang from the fire attack of Yan Yan alongside Xiahou Yuan and Han Hao. However, all three are killed at that location. Wei's story has him appear at the battle as well. In the first part, he follows Xiahou Yuan on the attack on Mt. Chaqi, whereas in the second part, he defends the mountain with Guo Huai and his death can be prevented, although he won't appear in future battles. He also appears at Nanjun in Wu's story as reinforcements for Cao Ren.

Dynasty Warriors 8 has him stationed at Mt. Tiandang again. In Wei's story, rescuing him from Huang Zhong's attack and successfully defending Mt. Tiandang prevents the death of Xiahou Yuan. He makes further appearances at Baidi Castle in Wei's hypothetical route, as well as Xu Province in Shu's and Nanjun in Wu's story.

Warriors Orochi has Xiahou De act as Xiahou Dun's replacement officer when players assume his uncle's role.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms gives Xiahou De above-average battle skills, but his intelligence and politics are fairly low in comparison. In some games, he might be skilled with cavalry tactics. He usually serves Wei in the scenarios he is available in.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms[]

Xiahou De appears in chapter 70 in the novel, first being mentioned by his younger brother Xiahou Shang, who told Zhang He that he guarded Mt. Tiandang after their initial loss against Shu's forces. They decided to meet up with him and Xiahou De offered them some of his troops to recover their losses, but Zhang He refused. After doubting Huang Zhong's abilities in battle, Xiahou De and Han Hao set out to meet the enemy in battle. After Han Hao was killed, Yan Yan started an arson attack and confused Xiahou De's men. Xiahou De quickly moved to meet the danger, but he only ran into Yan Yan's forces and was killed. In the next chapter, Xiahou Yuan was told of their deaths by Zhang He and Xiahou Shang.
