Yang Hong (onyomi: Yō Kō) is one of Liu Zhang's officers before submitting to Liu Bei. He helped to quell the uprisings at Hanzhong.
Role in Games[]
In Dynasty Warriors, Yang Hong is a minor officer who only appears during the Battle of Luo Castle in the seventh entry and at Chengdu during the eighth installment as an enemy officer.
Historical Information[]
Yang Hong was born in Jianwei, Yi Province. He started his service under Liu Zhang, but joined Liu Bei when the latter conquered Shu. He was made Assistant Officer to Li Yan, but opposed his plan to move the seat from Jianwei and retired from his post. During the campaign for Hanzhong, Yang Hong urged Zhuge Liang to send a relief force to Liu Bei which helped them conquer the region. For this, Yang Hong was promoted to Administrator of Shu Commandery. Liu Bei was later defeated at Yiling and grew ill. When the Governor of Hanjia Huang Yuan heard of Liu Bei's illness, he feared that he would be expelled from office by Zhuge Liang and rebelled. Yang Hong sent Chen Hu and Zheng Chou to deal with the rebellion and defeated him. Huang Yuan escaped and Yang Hong ordered Chen Hu to pursue him, leading to Huang Yuan's capture. He served as an advisor to Zhuge Liang during the Northern Campaigns, but died in 228 and was made a marquis.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms[]
In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Yang Hong is only mentioned in chapters 65, 80 and 91 to have received a promotion by Liu Bei or Zhuge Liang.
