Yoshitane Soma is the 16th head of the Soma clan, lord of Odaka Castle, and the son of Moritane Soma. Although he fought the Date for years, he was allowed to keep his land upon surrendering.
Role in Games[]
In Samurai Warriors 4, Yoshitane is initially found at Hitotoribashi, targeting Shigezane Date alongside his father. At Koriyama, Yoshitane ambushes the Date forces inside Odemori Castle alongside the Ashina forces. The expansion has him appear at Kaneyama Castle during Masamune's debut in Oshu alongside Magoichi.
Historical Information[]
As the 16th head of the Soma clan, Yoshitane fought against the Date in numerous battles before eventually surrendering in 1589. When Date Masamune submitted himself to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, he followed suit and his domain in Mutsu was restored. However, his land was confiscated as a result of his failute to respond to Ieyasu's call to arms during the Battle of Sekigahara. The Soma clan only regained their prestige after Tokugawa Iemitsu's birth. Yoshitane was succeeded by his son Toshitane.
