Zhou Xin (onyomi: Shū Kon) is the governor of Huiji who served under Wang Lang. He aided his lord's battles against the invading armies of Sun Ce.
Role in Games[]
The Dynasty Warriors games usually have Zhou Xin appear during Sun Ce's conquest of Wu Territory, where he fights the invaders under his lord Wang Lang. In Dynasty Warriors 6, he defends the base east of Niu Zhu Castle and also appears at his lord's side at Shi Ting fighting Lu Bu, while in Dynasty Warriors 7, Yu Ji summons a phantom of him to attack Sun Ce at Xuchang. Dynasty Warriors 8 has him guard the supply depot at Wujun along with Wang Lang.
In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Zhou Xin is a well-rounded officer who does well in all aspects. His highest stat is intelligence. He can be found around Huiji, either as a free officer or serving Wang Lang.
Historical Information[]
Zhou Xin was a man of Huiji in Yang Province. He was the older brother of Zhou Ang and Zhou Yu (Renming). Together with his two brothers, he went to serve Yuan Shao when the latter led the campaign against Dong Zhuo. Zhou Ang and Zhou Yu became generals in his army, while Zhou Xin was sent south to govern Danyang commandery in western Yang Province.
Yuan Shao, however, ordered Zhou Xin to govern the commandery very strictly, eventually causing harm to the people living there. Zhou Xin decided to resign his post and returned to his home. In 194, he joined the Administrator of Kuaiji, Wang Lang, and served him as a general during Sun Ce's invasion of Wu. During the fighting, he was defeated by Wu Jing and fled to Huiji. He was killed by Sun Ce's men later in battle in 196.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms[]
In the novel, Zhou Xin appears in chapter 15. During the defense of Kuaiji, he dashes out to help Wang Lang in battle against Sun Ce's forces and fights Huang Gai. They are defeated and flee to the city. Later, after Sun Ce's forces withdraw, he and Yan Baihu take 5,000 troops to pursue them. However, they are ambushed by Sun Ce on a road seven miles from the city. Zhou Xin dashes at Sun Ce, but is killed by his spear.
