Her best element is lightning which helps to increase her range, knockback and the number of hits she can produce. Since her musou is stationary it is best used within large crowds or after cornering opponents. She is relatively easy to use and master. Overall, she has the highest dexterity among female characters and one of the fastest. She has a weak defense stat and can easily be overrun by crowds if the player is not careful.

Triple Attack 2: Slams weapon unto the ground, causing strong gales to rise up from above.
Triple Attack 3: Causes a whirlwind to circulate for a short amount of time.

Fighting Style[]

Hideyoshi's combat style in Samurai Warriors 2 is designed for unpredictability. He uses tricky moves with his weapon to hit enemies from far away. He's not the strongest character, but he can defeat many enemies without getting hurt. His special attack involves jumping and hitting randomly. He has long range, is fast, and can do combos well. But he's not very strong overall and some of his moves are hard to do.

Due to his treasure-hoarding nature in the games, his fourth weapon in Samurai Warriors 2 is designed for high luck; making him a great character for item and money farming purposes.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Hideyoshi leaps into the air, spinning his staff, creating a vortex of flame diagonally downward.
Spirit Cancel:
R1: Activating this skill causes any regular unit defeated by Hideyoshi to randomly drop gems.

Ina is possibly the first archer character to solely rely on her bow for combat. Unlike previous archers, she doesn't carry a secondary weapon for close-range fights. Her fighting style has decent range and speed, but her bow attacks are weaker and slower compared to her melee strikes. However, her special attacks are very powerful, have long range, and can hit enemies far away from her.

Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Crosses axes together as he lifts both of them up to launch his targets, then as they fall down, he smacks them away with a dual axe strike to the right, then to the left.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Leans forward with a stunning headbutt, then does two upward-diagonally single axe swings inward to the right, then left.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Twirls his axes left and right while interchanging with both hands as both axes are attached together dual-ended pole-arm style, and then takes them apart for a finishing dual outward slash, with that attack sending out a cross wave of energy that knocks back.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Charges forward with bare hands. If an enemy is within his reach, he grabs them and lifts them over his shoulders. He bends them to snap their back via a lifting back-breaker on his shoulders before throwing them off to the front. The thrown target can crash into any foes in its way.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: All while stepping forward each time, Katsuie swings inward diagonally-downward with a single axe to the left then right, then to the left with both axes, then one wide swing to the right one-handed, then the next three swings become broad and alternating with both axes, followed by one two-axed left reap.
X, Square: Does a dual outward slash downward.
X, Triangle: Falls with both axes slammed down in front of him.
Dashing Square: Dual horizontal slash inwards.
Circle: Katsuie goes on a rampage slamming his axes interchangeably while running forward, causing minor eruptions on each slamming slash. He then poses for the usual shockwave finish. The Level 2 version involves falling boulders with his C2 used before the finish, while the Level 3 makes him perform his C3 chain before the finish.
R1 + Square: Runs forward trying to grab an enemy. If he connects, he then jumps into the air with them for a forward spinning piledriver, Izuna Drop style.
R1 + Triangle: Does a war cry into the sky to power up, and make any of his attacks to cause explosions central of Katsuie himself.
Personal Skill : Absorb: Blocking enemy attacks refills musou gauge.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Swings axes forward and upward on both sides of his horse to launch enemies.
Square, Square, Triangle: A downwards dual chopping slash to the left that stuns.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Tosses both axes forward in circles in front of his horse.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Slashes interchangeably inward with both axes to his right.
Warriors Orochi 2

Same attacks excluding his C5 and Level 3 Musou. His R1 attacks have also changed:

R1: An improved and alternate version of his C1. Katsuie tosses his left axe then right axe in that succession via outward-frontward throwing motions, only he throws forward five spinning yellow energy razors in a fanning spread at once per toss. Uses Musou.
Triple Attack 1: Hurls both weapons momentarily, causing them to slice at varying angles.
Triple Attack 2: Launches a mid-range gust by swiping weapon fiercely.
Triple Attack 3: Slashes weapons with enough power to generate strong gusts of wind.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

R1: Same as his R1 + Triangle, only the explosions occur upon contact with Katsuie's attacks.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Cross-slams his axes into the ground which makes two paths reach out from the axes. The paths then rise with fire and damage any enemy caught in them.
Spirit Cancel:

As of Xtreme Legends, much of Katsuie's moveset involves both simple brute force and skillful wielding of his axes, and his attacks tend to be basic and slow. He also throw attacks that can be meant for one-on-one happy blockers, and his attacks all have wide range, making Katsuie a solid powerhouse character with the right equipment, especially with the lightning element.

Warriors Orochi[]

Samurai Warriors[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Squats as he grips his weapon with both hands and prepares to fire a burst of energy forward, charging for the projectile's final damage rate with each additional button tap. The effect of the move depends on the background of his equipped weapon. If a bird graces the weapon, he summons a fire bird to hit foes in a straight line in front of him. A canine symbol has him summon a cloud of energy to whirl around him. The emblem with crosses has him project a shikigami-like symbol forward, which explodes after flying forward a few moments. The "Bi" character summons a damaging aura of energy that tracks foe's movements for a time.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Rising lift slash outward to the left that launches foes. Hops into the air to chop them back to the ground, pancaking them with a shockwave. Lands with a turning slash outward that inflicts crashing knockback.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): A scooping upward cut that stuns, then an outward slash (which slightly launches) into another launching slash (which inflicts charge drive launch as a launching slash), then ends the combo by charging forward with his sword positioned so that the flat end of his blade hits foes to his front with crashing knockback.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): A mighty stomp as he gestures outward. More button taps increases the range of the shockwave.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Slashes inward a bit downward then to the left upward along the same line, then with a stab forward. Places his free hand close to his chest in a praying position as he spins his sword hand to perform five circular slashes, then finishes with a turning slash upward to the left.
Dashing Square: Brakes with a wide slash outward that knocks back.
X, Square: A wide downwards swing outward.
X, Triangle: Plants his sword into the ground, emitting a small quake.
Circle: Lowers his torso to draw more power from his legs with each swing. Follows with a string of harsh two-handed slashes, stepping forward once after each cut. In his true musou version, he adds three quick slashes (the three final inputs of his C3 chain) before finishing.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Slice to his right that launches foes.
Square, Square, Triangle: Overhead chop that stuns.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Harsh downwards swing to his right.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: The original final input of his prior C3 chain, now as a single input.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Lunges with his free hand forward, attempting to grab a nearby foe. If it connects, he hoists them off their feet with the same hand, then palms them away with a burst of energy. Unblockable grab, and has more range towards Kenshin's left.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Pauses for a bit then slashes outward to summon a cloud of energy to fly along the ground in front of him. It quickly slithers forward before it explodes.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: (Xtreme Legends only) Gestures to manifest a cloud of smoke to circle around him twice as it grants him a free Special Skill 1 buff. Instantly breaks guards.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Same as before, only on the 4th-to-7th input, Kenshin slashes outward upward, then inward downward, horizontally sideways, then inward downwards before transitioning into the original final input finishers (which are on the 8th-to-12 inputs instead).
Circle: Same as before, only the level 3 version grants him the giant mirror image buff. The Level 2 and 3 versions instead have Kenshin perform the 4th-to-6th inputs of his normal attack chain before the finisher.
R1 + Square: Summons a giant spiritual replica of his torso to mimic his movements. The afterimage increases the power of his normal attacks, and will not correspond to his current weapon element (as well as having hitboxes of its own). Naturally disappears over time, when Kenshin is hit too many times, or when Kenshin mounts his horse.
R1 + Triangle: Sends a shikigami forward. It hovers in the air for a moment before exploding in a damaging puff of smoke.
Personal Skill : (Omniscience) Guard against attacks from behind.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Slice to his right that launches foes.
Square, Square, Triangle: Overhead chop that stuns.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Harsh downwards swing to his right.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Series of swings to his right, including four circular swings before the finish.
Warriors Orochi

Same attacks excluding his C9 and Level 3 Musou. His R1 attacks have also changed to be limited to one attack:

R1: Summons three giant images of himself to mimic his series of stabs forward. One image replica remains to continue copying his movements, granting him the same buff as his prior Special Skill. Disappears in the same manner as its Samurai Warriors 2 counterpart.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Quickly unleashes a radial shockwave.
Triple Attack 2: Releases a shockwave traveling from the ground at a considerable distance.
Triple Attack 3: Slams weapon unto the ground, causing a pillar of light to erupt.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Keeps the same moveset with the following changes.

Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Kenshin focuses his energy into his blade, then causing his giant image to appear behind him; the pair slam their swords into the ground in unison, creating a large forward sword beam along the ground.
Spirit Cancel: Holds his sword with both hands in front of himself as he charges forward.
R1: Functions the same as his R1 + Square.
Warriors Orochi 3

Character type changed from Power to Speed. Loses the ability to use Spirit Charge and sidestep, but gains the ability to air dash and jump cancel; regains his C9 along with reprising a previous Type Action.

R1: Same as his original Special Skill/Type Action, only he first performs a rushing slash forward that knocks back.
X, X: An airdash that makes him temporarily invincible. Kenshin rolls forward through the air.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Dives forward to the ground with a wind-resistance aura and then scoops up his blade to unleash a vertical air wave that launches.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Mighty strike is the same as Deadlock attack. Same moveset with some alterations.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, but the smoke cloud no longer circles around him twice and also no longer grants him his mirror image buff.
Circle: Finisher changes to him conjuring a rain of fire around himself.
Rage Attack/Musou Gokui effect: Activates Ultimate/Kaidan Musou if Circle is used. Performs ending pose for previous Circle if the effect ends without activating Ultimate/Kaidan Musou.

Hyper Moveset[]

Triangle: Quickly slides forward with an outward slash to his left one-handed. Each odd-numbered input involves an outward slash, while each even-numbered input is an inward slash.
Triangle, Square: Fires a smoke orb in front that explodes soon after. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Square: Holds both hands together as he point his sword up to palm-strike forward, akin to his C6.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S2.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S3.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Twirls his sword around in front to gesture two orbiting smoke orbs around himself, then swings his weapon outward to unleash a shockwave for the finisher.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle: Ends his Hyper Attack string with a leaping slamming slash.

Fighting Style[]

Samurai Warriors 2: Empires[]

Triangle: Kojirō swings his sword back then delivers a powerful diagonal slash.
Square, Triangle: An upward slash that launches the enemy up.
Square, Square, Triangle: Kojirō swings his sword back then delivers a powerful downward slash.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: A shockwave that knocks enemies away.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Jumps in the air making multiple tornadoes circle Kojirō.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Grabs the handle, and back of the sword and drives it forward in a charge.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: A grab attack that impales the enemy, Kojirō then throws them forward, dashes up to them before they hit the floor and slashes them.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Kojirō holds his sword to the left then jumps forward and spins around hitting enemies in a 360 area with great range.
Circle: Kojirō does slow upward slashes while advancing on the enemy.

R1 + Triangle: Whistles for his horse.

Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends[]

Ground Moveset[]

  • Triangle: Throws a broadsword forwards and downward as he steps forward that eventually flies back before disappearing. Can break guards.
  • Square, Triangle: An upward drilling-stab lift with a broadsword that launches the enemy up.
  • Square, Square, Triangle: Back-flips and while upside down at his peak, throws a broadsword forwards that stuns targets.
  • Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Slashes horizontally inwards-forward with both his broadswords via a pincer-strike motion.
  • Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Spins both broadswords around him that launch enemies upward.
  • Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Sends both broadswords spinning out moving forward in front of him like a windmill that stuns enemies.
  • Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Grabs an enemy in front of him with his free hand, and then rips them from inside out, flinging them away thus causing ripples of attacks. Drains a notable amount of HP from his target.
  • Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Generates a field that slows time in front of him before slicing-left to his front with both broadswords stacked upon each other in an orbit. Has a slight dead-zone at point-blank range all around him for the broadsword hitboxes.
  • Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Xtreme Legends only): A possible flanking-variation of his Tsubame Gaeshi. Disappears and then does a spinning horizontal slash with his nodachi to his left (in reverse-grip) at the back of any targets in front of him.
  • Circle: Repeatedly throws multiple horizontal Tsubame Gaeshi (as he says at the start of the musou) in front him from left to right, generating blue cutting waves as he does. Kojirō stands in one place while doing this. In his level three version, the waves will be projected at a quicker rate and energy waves will accompany him.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: An outward flicking slash, inward cut that causes him to turn his back, two turning two-handed slashes to the right, one-handed swing to upper left, swing to the horizontal right, then to the left, then four fencing stabs (that shoot out energy darts) with a finishing two-handed slash to the right.
X, Square: A midair inward slash to his left diagonal at the ground.
X, Triangle: Falls down with his nodachi in an upright planting fashion, causing a quake to hit downed foes with.
Dashing Square: The only non-charge attack to involve his broadsword(s). Steps/advances forward while sliding to a brake where he gestures his free left-hand to summon a broadsword forward and downward to knockback his foe(s), similar to his C1.
R1 + Square: Kojirō charges for a moment and performs his Tsubame Gaeshi (Swallow Return) in its base form. He does an unblockable upward cut from a quick downward swing.
R1 + Triangle: Using a bit of Musou, Kojirō prepares to take a step back as he gestures with his blade outward to the right, temporarily making himself invisible. If he attacks, the effect will wear off but his attack will be stronger.
Deadlock Attack : A variation of his Tsubame Gaeshi. Slings both broadswords from above in succession as he steps forward per each motion (akin to his C1), then performs an up-slanted turning two-handed slash to his right before slowly twirling his sword back into his stance.
Personal Skill : (Intimidation) Shockwave produced when entering special stance.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Swings a broadsword straight down.
Square, Square, Triangle: Swings a broadsword forward at a downward at an angle.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Sends two broadswords flying directly in front of him.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Multiple stabs to his right.
Warriors Orochi 2

Loses his C9 and Level 3 Musou. Gains a C5-EX-Special and an Extra Counter.

Square, Square, Square, Square, R1: A variation of his Tsubame Gaeshi. Spins his broadswords in front of him in a manner similar to two windmills next to each other (along with ripples from his C7 flashing on his blades), grinding his foes in between. Launches foes upward.
R1 (Counter): All in one quick move, Kojirō rears back to summon his broadswords as they spin like a windmill to knockback foes in a similar manner to a shield or barrier of sorts.
Triple Attack 1: Conjures gusts of air by telekinetically hurling both swords in a cross formation.
Triple Attack 2: Summons swords that spin around rapidly, creating a tornado in the process.
Triple Attack 3: Sends out a long current of air via slash.
Warriors Orochi 3

Character type changed from Technique to Power. Loses the ability to critically hit and gains a new Type Action.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only the first part has a differently-rendered field that can generate multiple hits.
Circle: Same as before, only the startup graphics are changed to be a Mystic-style Musou Attack.
R1: Creates a large projection of his nodachi as he rears back during a delay before doing a large two-handed slash to the left, which knocks back with a crashing effect. The very first portion where he draws back his sword has a small hitbox, and by that proxy can activate specific weapon attributes.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Sends down one of his broadswords spinning to the ground with an inward left-hand swipe (which forms a bladed wind-ring that sucks in enemies), followed by a cutting wave via a two-handed left slash to slash away at any gathered enemies. Another possible form of his Tsubame Gaeshi via the back-and-forth swinging motion.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Mighty strike is the same as Deadlock Attack. Moveset returns with some changes.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, except Kojirō lifts his target up with telekinesis and the slash ripples are more detailed (and the target can now recover from it but cannot escape due to being trapped). Hits multiple times throughout its animation and can suck in other nearby targets through said hits. No longer drains health from the target, and can be somersault-recovered at the right time to avoid the finishing portion.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only he instead conjures multiple red and black swords to orbit above and around the area on the first portion.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as his Xtreme Legends' C9 in all other aspects, but no longer has the invisibility; also dashes forward a smaller distance than before and sets off a small blue shockwave similar to the series' Musou Attack finishers.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Stabbing portions for the 8th-to-11th inputs now have multi-stab effects for each attack.
R1: Same as his R1 + Square, only it now works only against attacks as a counter/reversal and Kojirō remains stationary.
Circle: Finisher changes to him gesturing his free hand forward to summon five glowing red and black demonic swords that float about in front of him a bit, before spiraling forward to slash at his opponents done from Kojirō gesturing with his nodachi in a one-handed slash to the left.
  • The quote for the finisher is oddly cut-off due to a programming error, as the full version is meant to be "Sleep beautifully!" (綺麗に眠って!, Kirei ni nemutte!)
Rage Attack/Musou Gokui effect: Activates Ultimate/Kaidan Musou if Circle is used. Performs ending pose for previous Circle if the effect ends without activating Ultimate/Kaidan Musou.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaidan): Summons two broadswords that stand straight up, and then begin spinning around his body while damaging opponents. This generates a black and red aura under him that spreads out a great distance, forming a red and black pool of energy under him and his enemies, continuously dealing damage. He then holds his hand up into the air, the two broadswords shoot straight up into the sky, this action summoning countless black and red energy swords to follow the two broadswords, continuing to damage enemies while also sending them flying.

Hyper Moveset[]

Triangle: Slides forward quickly as he does gestures with his free hand to reap with his broadswords interchangeably. The first input starts with him swinging to the right first.
Triangle, Square: A back-and-forth cutting variation of his Tsubame Gaeshi. Slashes to the left downward and instantly upward along the same diagonal path with double two-handed slashes. The second slash causes multiple slash-ripples to appear. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Square: Swings inward his left hand for a gesture to call his broadswords into a windmill, then shoots them straight forward into a more wild slashing formation with a small dash forward while gesturing his hand again.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S2.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S3.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Leaps up high to slam a broadsword to the ground from midair. The impact then causes seven red and black swords to form into a spiral low to the ground (much like his new C9), blasting back any targets with crashing knockback.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle: Ends his Hyper Attack string with a forward palming gesture of sending a spiraling vortex of both his broadswords forward.

Fighting Style[]

Samurai Warriors[]

His Empires moveset combines elements from Mitsuhide, Ranmaru, and Kenshin's movesets. His Square chain is based on Kenshin save for the last 4 hits which are Mitushide. Of his charges, his C1 is borrowed from Nagamasa Azai's C1 and uses Sakon Shima's C3 as his C3. His C2, C4, C6, and Musou are all Kenshin's moves while his C5, C7, and C8 are all Mitsuhide's. His R1+ Square and his ending stance after finishing his Musou attack are like Ranmaru's.

His moveset is flexible and rather plain with few really flashy moves, but useful in many situations, as most of his attacks hits large groups, but also tend to break defense, making them good against general and crowd alike. C4, C5, and C8 hit large areas in a 360 degree area making them ideal in dealing with crowds quickly. As for generals all three of his last charges break guards, with the last two even damaging blocking generals. C7 is a grab attack with a small area, but as it is a grab a guard is useless if it connects, and C8 is an attack that breaks guard on impact and hits twice, so if a general guards, his block will be broken in the first swing, and he'll be open for the second. Another note is his R1 + Square does a lot of damage to its target (about twice that of an average charge attack), which means while it is easily guarded against it is also recommended for generals

As far as what works best with Kojirō, Ice is one recommended element for the fact that it doubles the damage of his special making it very potent, doing 4 times the damage of what Kojiro's Charge attacks would do. Another recommended element is the death element, as some of his charges hits large crowds it kills a large portion of them. Everything else on a weapon boils down to personal preference.

In the Xtreme Legends expansion, Kojirō's fighting style differs in regards to which of his two weapons he is using; his nodachi or his two magic broadswords that can appear in place of his nodachi and sending in the air by distance control. When using his nodachi (mostly in his regular attacks) he attacks with reasonably wide sweeps and very precise attacks, this gives him an overall good range but makes it hard to hit with some of his attacks, particularly when he is using thrust attacks. When using his magic broadswords (only in charge attacks) his range becomes exceptional, hitting both far out in front of him and far around him.

His nodachi attacks could be compared to fencing as he does a lot of thrusting attacks with it from a standing refined position, but typically he uses it like how any other sword-user uses their swords. His broadswords cannot really be compared to a fighting style as he never actually wields them; they appear trans-dimensionally and he simply moves his hand to move them, as if he is directing them with his hands.

He also has multiple forms of his signature Tsubame Gaeshi technique personally created by himself, which is a clear nod to several inconsistent depictions of the technique in other media. Some versions of the attack involve either his nodachi or his broadswords alike.

Overall, Kojirō is very versatile due to his two weapons but his precise attacks can make him difficult to master, however, as this only applies to a few of his moves he is a great crowd clearer and suitable for most players. The Ice element does wonders to keep enemies in place for him to rack up damage a la area-of-effect style, and his Musou and charge attacks enable him to fight at almost any range.

However, weaknesses of his are apparent. Some of his attacks tend to animate not as quickly, and sometimes come out slow or recover too slow. He also has weak durability, as well as the need to properly space with his broadsword-based moves as they are disjointed from Kojirō's position himself in various ways. For example, his C5 lacks in horizontal coverage, and his C6 is a single-target grab attack.

In the 4th title, Kojirō remains much the same with his Xtreme Legends incarnation, and his Hyper Moveset makes it even better for him to clear crowds as usual. His potential has not dimmed down one bit, but his new Ultimate Musou Attack is more area-of-effect focused at times. However, his C7 no longer drains health, nor does it count as a true "grab" attack (it's still unblockable however) and the airborne state it puts targets in normally would halve its damage as usual.

Warriors Orochi[]

In Warriors Orochi 2, Kojirō makes an appearance with his Xtreme Legends style moveset. He is largely the same, but relies even heavier on his charge attacks. His new special attack is not too useful, so Kojirō has a chance to use his Musou often which is still as powerful as in Xtreme Legends. In his weapons however Range is worthless, as with Oichi, Kojirō's attacks aren't considered within the length of his weapon, and so none is added to his charge attacks. Ice is debatable to add, as some players like the improvement it brings to Kojirō. However, due to some unfavorable usage of Kojirō's Critical Hit with him being a Technique character, prefer to add the Air attribute instead to make his charge attacks more rewarding. He also doesn't have much with his C5-EX-SP Type Action (especially with it being an awkward variation of his Tsubame Gaeshi), seeing in that it has a bit of a high musou cost and the damage isn't much worth it.

In the 3rd title, Kojirō still plays the same, though his new special attack enables him to clear crowds well, albeit being slow. He's been brought up to most if not several characters' levels and vice versa, making him a solid choice as before, but not as powerful as in the past. His new R1 special is also much slower than is original one, but it works great with more range and gives good breathing room. Also due to some new abilities that involve thrift consumption of the Musou gauge, Kojirō is also one of the few Samurai Warriors characters who can abuse his Musou Attack with even more impunity. Also, due to his C7 which can heal him, life-draining skills are not overly recommended on him, but are a decent bonus instead.

Samurai Warriors 2[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): He stretches his arms back and swings them together. With his arms still stretched, he punches the ground to move forward. While moving, Kotarō crouches and hits multiple times. After finishing, he rolls and becomes airborne.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Smashes his fist on the ground for a dark splash effect. With his foes aerial, he elongates his other arm to whack them back to the ground. Digging the claws of his stretched arm into the ground, Kotarō shifts himself forward to hit with his normal arm in a circular motion.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Thrusts forward for an elbow blow. While he pivots to face behind him, he follows by elongating both arms to hit in a wavy motion in front and above him. He returns his arms to normal to fire a dark fireball in front of him.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): He transforms one arm into a whip and strikes enemies in front of him. He stretches both arms and spins around, causing those hit to be thrown away. He requires a short pause for his arms to return to their original form.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: (Xtreme Legends only) Double kicks the air. If a foe is within range, he kicks them down and "surfs" on top of them across the ground. The motion is the same as his action against Hanzō in the Samurai Warriors 2 opening movie.
Circle: Lengthens one arm and runs forward to perform several swipes. When he finishes, he stands to a stop and crosses his arms. In his true musou version, he ends the motion with three spinning attacks: a punch, a kick, and one with his arms extended like his C4. His Level 3 version creates doubles of himself to mimic his actions.
X, X: Like all nimble, ninja type characters, Kotarō can double jump.
X, Square: Spins in the air and shoots an energy disk at his foes.
X, Triangle: Plummets to perform a hand stand, causing a minor shockwave.
R1 + Square: Extends his arm forward. If it connects, Kotarō throws his captured enemy by whipping them once behind him and hurling them forward. Cannot be blocked.
R1 + Triangle: He spins one hand in a complete circle to conjure four fire balls before he projects them forward.
Personal Skill : (Facility) Evade while performing a charge attack.

Horse Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Kotarō attacks with a claw once that launches foes.
Square, Square, Triangle: Throws down a smoke bomb that emits a green explosion. Dizzies enemies.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Extends both arms to smack both sides of saddle.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Rapid series of long armed swings to the right.
Warriors Orochi

Same attacks excluding his C5 and Level 3 Musou. He gains a few new abilities:

X, X: An aerial dash with temporary invulnerability. Kotarō leans into a position parallel to the ground and spins.
R1: Stretch both arms forward. If they touch, lift the enemy up and slam them down to create an explosion that hurts nearby enemies.
direction + R1: Kotarō takes a few quick steps before he slides along the ground. Hits downed opponents.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Outstretches arms to launch fierce gusts traveling at a certain distance.
Triple Attack 2: Causes ground to erupt with glimmering light.
Triple Attack 3: Spins arms with enough force to create a pillar of wind.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Keeps relatively the same moveset with the following additions.

Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Kotaro extends his gloves to multiple times their normal extended length, then spins continuously in a tornado like fashion.
Spirit Cancel:
Warriors Orochi 3
R1: Fires a ball of pure energy towards the opponent.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Elongates right arm to grab an enemy to pull them in and uses the other arm to absorb health and musou from the enemy.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Fighting Style[]

Kotaro is a strong fighter. His moves are fast, easy, and powerful. He can attack from a distance, but he is best in close combat. He can easily counter his opponents' moves. However, new players may find it difficult to get used to his short range and slow recovery time. His defense is not very strong, so players should use his quick attacks to avoid getting hit. He is not very fast compared to other ninja characters, which can be a problem in timed missions.

Samurai Warriors[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Kunoichi charges up and then runs around slashing as she runs.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Kunoichi slashes opponent in air and jumps up after them spinning with blades in hand, and as they fall she throws an explosive at them
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Kunoichi does a forward kick, then spins at an angle with knives and jumps behind opponent and releases a blast correlating with element, if no element she releases a stream of projectiles in one direction
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): dashes forward slashing about 4-6 times then throws weapons like a boomerang.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Three slashes from Knives and then a series a kick which Kunoichi turns around after each one and a final spinning hand stand kick
Circle: Spins like a top with her weapons out stretched. When she finishes, she rests on her knees to recover. In her true musou version, she finishes it with her C3 combo.
X, X: Like all nimble, ninja type characters, she can double jump.
X, Triangle: Lands with kunai pointed downward then backflips to her feet.
X, Square: Slashes with both her daggers in a downwards strike.

Square, Square, Triangle: Throws a smokebomb at the ground.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Throws blades in front of the horse making a X shaped projectile path.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Kunoichi leans to the right and does a series of very quick slashes.
Circle: She does her Square chain at higher speeds.
Warriors Orochi

In the first game, her C3 ends with a bigger explosion. As with the rest of the Samurai Warriors cast, her horse musou changes to have the horse stampede forward.

R1 - hops back and becomes invincible to any attack for a short time. Greatly increases her attack power, which can be tweaked with proficiency levels.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Performs a quick cutting motion that projects a strong gust of air forward.
Triple Attack 2: Tosses a bomb that explodes in front of the user.

Mounted Moveset[]

Kunoichi retains her horse moveset from previous games.

Fighting Style[]

Samurai Warriors[]

Kuniochi is the fastest character in Samurai Warriors. She is the fastest runner, rolls far, and has the highest natural jumps, and her pre-existing double jump adds on to this. Her running speed makes her ideal for Castle Stages as she can zip through floors, roll through any trap and jump into special ninja paths to make life easier. On the field ninja paths are again useful, and her speed is such that a horse is optional, and although she can't run as fast as Matsukaze, she comes close with high leveled Tenku Shoes.

As for her fighting strengths, again the word speed applies. She is annoying to fight against because she can pull off an attack before a lot of characters can even begin their swings; when using her, make note of this. Her moveset is useful for the situation. Her Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle) is used for killing generals, her Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle) kills crowds if your element is either Fire, Lighting, or Ice, and arguably most multi-useful attack is Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle) as it hit crowds, and damages generals and it is useful for taking on multiple generals at once.

Kunoichi, although horses are optional for her, is a great horsemen. Her Square string comes out fast and combos generals enough to be deadly, and for crowds her Square, Square, Triangle and Square, Square, Square, Triangle kill crowds quite nicely, the former has more range, but the latter more power.

As far as ranged combat, Kunoichi isn't quite the best. She doesn't do horrible at it however, her main drawback is her lack of power, so she has to use multiple shots (Which means unless your knocking them off a horse don't use on fleeing foes), but her forte in ranged combat is her reload speed which is among the fastest, like her enemy Hanzō, and the ranged expert Magoichi.

Weapon Suggestion[]

These are some Suggested Weapons for her, playstyle however differs among players, so some might not work for you that are listed, and some that aren't listed may work miracles for you

Some suggested stats for weapons for her are: Flame or Ice Elements - Flame greatly improves her combos as they are multiple hit and keeps foes in the air, on top of this it gives huge range and area to her Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle)'s explosion. Ice glues an enemy to the ground allowing more damage and easier combos

  • Attack range - Kunoichi's reach is rather low. This helps improve it.
  • Attack - Kunoichi's attack isn't the highest, so this helps her kill easier.
  • Speed - Kunoichi's speed is one the highest so this takes advantage of that and improves it further if augmented with Tenku Shoes she can run as fast a horse easily
Things not suggested
  • Lightning or Dark: Lightning screws up her combo's especially Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle). Dark changes her explosion to a thin projectile without much area, and it's effect is almost negligible.
  • Hare Greaves- her jump is high enough to reach any ledge she needs to, and she is already augmented by double jump.

Warriors Orochi[]

While her C2-3's explosion was reduced from its introduction, Kunoichi's power, most especially due to her special skill is undeniable in both games.

Kunoichi's main offense tool is her C2-1, which is fast and triggers elements, and would remain with her even after Warriors Orochi 2 removed most C2's triggering elements. As she is a Power character, she will rarely be interrupted, and paired with her special skill, which makes her completely invulnerable, ensures that she will almost never be interrupted as she chips down crowds and officers. The primary drawback to this, however, is the special skill's high musou cost, but this can be mitigated by having Absorb on her weapon as well as the Conserve ability.

Samurai Warriors[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Masamune crouches and crosses his bokken in front of him. He fires a dragon shaped wave of energy that travels in front of him. He fires two more with each button press.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): An upward diagonal swipe with both bokken that launches his opponent into the air. He hops up to bap them six times with his bokken, swinging three times with each sword in his hand. He ends the combo by firing a burst of dragon-energy towards the ground.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): A downward slash with both bokken. He then slices as he rises, moving his swords from an inwards to outwards motion. As his opponent is stunned, he leaps forward and hits three times with each of his swords. He finishes with a horizontal swing with both swords.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): A horizontal attack with with both swords that cuts to his right. He hops upwards with a rising slash from both swords, sending any opponents hit by the blow flying. As he crouches from his landing, he summons a wave of dragon-energy to circle around him.
X, Triangle: Plummets to pierce the ground with both bokken, creating a shockwave.
X, Square: One-two overhead slices.
Circle: Masamune crouches with his swords poised at his sides and bombards foes with dragon shaped waves. In his true Musou version, he ends the motion with three overhead slashes.

Mounted Moveset[]

Fighting Style[]

In Samurai Warriors, Masamune fights with two wooden training swords (bokken) and can shoot dragon shaped laser beams from his eye patch. His attacks are fairly fast and broad with certain swings covering his blind spots. His combos are easy to execute and he attacks fairly well from horseback. Drawbacks in this version include; poor reach (fixable to an extent with the right skills) and weak damage potential, both on and off a horse. His musou is useful for crowd clearing but not as effective one-on-one.

Samurai Warriors 2[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Fires with a single gun, shooting three bullets simultaneously in front of him. Follows with a dashing slice, finishing with a vertical backflip where he fires with both guns forward upon recovering while airborne.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Upwards diagonal cut that launches foes into the air. Shoots aerial foes with both of his guns from below before performing a jumping slash to cut them back down.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): A turning back kick followed by a dashing slice forward. As he recovers, he brings out both guns and shoots to his sides twice, shooting out two blasts of cutting waves per shot.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Turns then performs downward slashes inward then outward per input. Finishes by hopping into the air, spinning as he shoots both guns at once. Each input makes him slash twice pet input for a total of five times before the finisher, and if no input is done he only slashes once.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: (Xtreme Legends only) Brings out both of his guns and swings them down to shoot a spray of bullets with each one, hitting enemies on his sides. Stuns enemies on grounded hit while launching on airborne/extra hit.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: An inward slash downward, outward slash upward along the same line, an inward upward slash, then followed by sheathing his sabre shooting one of his guns with his right hand 4 times total; Masamune for the final input then re-holsters it to rush forward with his sabre via a re-drawing slash. Each gunshot on the 4th-to-7th input can guard-break.
X, Square: Brings out both guns to fire and fires them one at a time. Can be repeated multiple times until he lands, changing the tempo and aerial momentum of his jump slightly.
X, Triangle: Plummets to plant sword into the ground, creating an on the ground-hitting quake.
Dashing Square: Leaning horizontal slash into a brake.
Circle: Masamune stands still and fires a barrage of bullets in a 180 degree motion in front of him. His level 3 musou includes diagonal laser beams. In his true musou version, he repeats the last part of his C4 three times.
R1 + Square: Masamune shoots his pistols, beginning with his right and then shifting to his left hand. Can kill enemy generals and can tap the button repeatedly as Masamune walks around in his special stance to fire more bullets while shift-moving.
R1 + Triangle: Masamune twirls his guns and taunts the enemy. Lowers their defense while increasing their attack. Enemies under the afflicted status will be surrounded by red sparkles.
Personal Skill : (Absorb) Blocking enemy attacks refills musou gauge.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: A harsh downwards swipe that launches enemies in range.
Square, Square, Triangle: Overhead chop that stuns.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Brings out both of his guns. Fires an spray of bullets to his right and then his left.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Slices to his right six times before he brings out one of his guns. He shoots a short spray of bullets, surrounding his right and front sides.
Warriors Orochi

Same attacks excluding his C5 and Level 3 Musou. Gains the ability to air dash and two Combination Arts.

X, X: An air dash that makes him temporarily invincible. Masamune leans forward slightly to propel himself.
R1: Jumps into the air with both guns ready, spiraling upside down to face the ground below to fire both guns in a spin before rolling into a landing. Costs no Musou.
direction + R1: Readies both guns and then cannonballs himself forward via a torpedo dive. As he spins, he rapidly shoots with both guns until he loses momentum and slides into a brake. Inflicts crashing knockback and costs no Musou.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Shoots a fireball that explodes after traveling at a considerably short distance.
Triple Attack 2: Hurls a ground shockwave moving at a rapid pace.
Triple Attack 3: Does a quick slash that sends forth a mobile shockwave traveling forward.

Fighting Style[]

In this game, his stats emphasize his abilities on horseback. Drawbacks for him now are: minor setup lag on some key charge moves, slightly lower damage output, and a very narrow hit box on his pistol fire. These issues, however, are mostly resolved by his final weapon which fixes his range and quickens his musou recovery - to allow him maximum potential when using his best asset: his musou attack.

Masamune's strongest element is ice. In both games, his musou in greatly improved with the use of this element on his weapon, in particular, Samurai Warriors 2 takes this to almost ridiculous efficiency.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Retains the same moveset from previous entry with the following additions.

R1: Acts as the same as his R1 + Square, only R1 needs to be held down to fire repeatedly like before.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Masamune jumps high into the air, and lets forth a hail of bullets diagonally downward in-front of him. While still in midair, he finishes off with a large explosive shot in the same direction.
Spirit Cancel: Flies forward with his free palm extended somewhat forward.
Warriors Orochi 3

Character type changed from Speed to Technique. Loses the ability to air dash, jump cancel and Spirit Charge, but keeps the ability to sidestep; gains the ability to sidestep-dash attack and to critically hit, along with a new Type Action. Also regains his C5.

R1: Shoots forward repeatedly in a torpedo dive before tumbling upside down in mid-air, scattering bullets to nearby foes in the process to launch them. A combination of Masamune's Art 2 and Art 1 in that order from previous Warriors Orochi titles, only the first part has him firing straight forward and the second part does not have as much forward momentum with Masamune flipping in time to land upright. Cannot cancel from his C1 and C4's final inputs.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Slashes below himself with a short-ranged cutting wave to launch enemies, then shoots at them forward repeatedly for a finishing exploding shot afterwards, which spiral launches targets away (or towards Masamune if they are close enough). Can be cancelled from the landing of his jumping charge and the final input for his C4.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Mighty strike is the same as Deadlock Attack. Moveset type is altered to Hyper type. Majority of his old attacks return but they are altered.

Charge Moveset[]

Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Same as before, only the final jump slash is omitted.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Same as before, only the final gunshot finisher is omitted.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Same as before, only a single extra input can be done which makes Masamune slash only three times in total instead.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only the bullets now always launch on hit.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Same as before, only with slightly better turning ability per shot via the fourth-to-seventh inputs.

Hyper Moveset[]

Triangle: Quickly slides forward while pouncing for each reaping slash, with each odd-numbered input being an inward one, and the even-numbered inputs are outward.
Triangle, Square: Turns to uppercut in an outward leaping slash. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Square: Fires in three directions while standing upright and stepping forward, causing short-ranged gunpowder bursts to emit in front of him.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Fires bullets twice in a fan formation while crouching and advancing, swinging right then left inward.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Slashes thrice inward to his left in multiple dancing turns, sending out large cutting waves per slash and with the final slash making him lean forward a bit. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Leaps upwards a bit and rapidly shoots downwards with both guns in a spread in front, giving off explosions.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Flies forward via a torpedo dive while shooting with both guns, then recovers with a roll forward. Akin to his original Combination Art 2 from Warriors Orochi.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S6.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle: Ends his Hyper Attack string with an outward hopping spin kick.
X, Square: Same as before.
X, Triangle: Same as before
Circle: The finisher now involves Masamune posing with both guns after twirling them, then he via a low crouching position slides forward with a spin covered in blue and red flames, then somersaults backward straight into the air for a downward exploding shot from both guns.
Rage Attack/Musou Gokui effect: Activates Ultimate/Kaidan Musou if Circle is used. Performs ending pose for previous Circle if the effect ends without activating Ultimate/Kaidan Musou.
Spirit Cancel: Same as before.
R1: Same as before.

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Holds his sword upright behind him as he crouches while leaning forward, preparing for a dash. He will continue to do so until the player either stops pressing Triangle or reaches the maximum the limit. Afterwards, he runs/dashes forward. Pressing Triangle during his dash will make him perform slashes (ending with his dashing Square) during his run while pressing Square will cancel it.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Launches with a diagonal lifting-cut. If it connects, he dashes forward with another horizontal slash. As he turns behind, he cuts once more and sends a cutting wave to his front.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): A reaping slanted two-handed slash to the left for the first input. Then performs a series of multiple stabs forward in a focused and slow-advancing posture while holding his sword with his free hand. Ends stabbing a single time, then by piercing the ground with his sword, causing a stunning quake. Recovering from the said quake takes time due to Mitsuhide flicking his sword after pulling it out. Can tap (Triangle) for more inputs, where Mitsuhide stabs twice initially but can stab up to four times before the quake.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Mitsuhide sheathes his sword before slicing outward in a step (which stuns), then slashes via a lifting scoop launch; turns his back to his foe as he crouches and with sword behind him with both hands on it, leaping in a cutting spin 360 to slash at the falling target(s) and inflicting crashing knockback.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: A leftward-two-handed slash, an outward one-handed swing, then a two-handed downward slash to his left all in advancing steps per slash. The fourth-to-seventh inputs involve interchanging upward one-handed slashes starting from the left, finishing with a wide stepping outward one-handed slash that causes crumple.
Dashing Square: Slides into a braking stop via a two-handed upward diagonal slash to his left.
X, Square: A downwards reaping two-handed slash.
X, Triangle: Plants his sword into the ground, emitting a downed-target-hitting quake.
Circle: Crouches and slices back-and-forth with each step forward. In his True Musou version, he adds three criss-crossing slashes before finishing.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Harsh swing to his right that launches.
Square, Square, Triangle: Downwards swing that stuns.
Square, Square, Square,Triangle: Slower swing the sends foes flying.
Circle: Series of slashes to his right.

Samurai Warriors 2[]

Keeps his mounted moveset excluding his horse musou, which changes to a horse stampede. His ground moveset was changed dramatically due to his attack type (Normal).

Triangle: Same as before, but only allows a single tap of Triangle during the sprint before ending, where the three slashes are done automatically. Can no longer be cancelled on its own or charged up.
Square, Triangle: Same as before, only without the extra inputs.
Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only without the extra inputs.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only now it inflicts crashing knockback with no extra inputs.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Bends down and spirals into the air vertically high to launch targets around him with a small brief field of wind bursts. Puts Mitsuhide into an airborne state.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as his original C3 attack barring the prior stunning slash (his C3), though the stabs now send out energy darts per strike. No longer performs the finishing stab and transitions right into the quake finisher after the barrage.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Thrusts sword tip forward. If it connects, he hoists his foe off their feet via his sword's tip before slicing them with two diagonal cuts (outward-to-inward along the same line; second one inflicts crashing knockback). Unblockable grab/throw, but the second slash will miss if Mitsuhide's attack speed stat is too high in installments with smaller hitboxes.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as the final input of his original C4, which is now a standalone move.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: (Xtreme Legends only) Stands upright with both hands on sword as he circles his sword to create an image of a full moon via the famed "Engetsu Sappō" (円月殺法, Circling Moon Killing Law), then performs a harsh downward advancing slice in front of him that inflicts crashing knockback. The circling motion also has a hitbox that launches targets far away (causing the actual slash to miss during a juggle), though it is fairly vertical.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Same as before, only the original fourth-to-seventh inputs are moved to being the ninth-to-eleventh inputs instead. The fourth-to-seventh inputs are respectively replaced by four more stepping slashes; outward upper-diagonal, inward lower-diagonal, outward lower-diagonal then an inward lower-diagonal reap, in that order.
X, Square: Changed to a turning-outwards slash to the right aimed downward.
Circle: Same as before but with a longer reach. In his level 3 version, he is surrounded by a series of rapid blue whirlwinds.
R1: Enters a battōjutsu stance.
R1 + Square: An instantaneous battōjutsu slash forward, briefly ghosting an image of himself in its wake. Activates Demon element and crumples the target(s) hit.
R1 + Triangle: Takes a slow step forward while bracing his hand on his sword's hilt in his stance. If he properly counters an enemy attack, Mitsuhide deflects the blow with his sword still in its sheath (which inflicts stagger). While his opponent is still stunned, he unsheathes his sword to slash them back with a dashing inward slit.
Personal Skill : (Pressure) Push back enemies with Square while guarding.
Warriors Orochi

Loses his Level 3 Musou and does not regain his C9 in the sequel. Gains the ability to air dash and two Combination Arts.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, but becomes a single gust of wind instead. Can be jump-cancelled early for an awkward "double jump" effect.
X, X: An airdash that makes him temporarily invincible. Mitsuhide leans forward to propel himself.
R1: Hops forward while spinning rapidly in a tunneling-fashion, slicing foes to his front. Inflicts crashing knockback.
Direction + R1: A quick battōjutsu slash forward that sends a miniature flashing wave of energy forward. Shares this type of move with Zhou Tai's Art 2.
  • In Warriors Orochi 2, this move is severely nerfed in both damage and hitstun.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Releases a wave of air flying at mid-range.
Triple Attack 2: Produces a massive wind column surrounding the vicinity for a short amount of time.
Triple Attack 3: Causes a whirlwind to travel around the user.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only blue line-traces trail from his blade as he draws the moon, and the moon no longer appears while a faint white circle is shown in its place, with its perimeter being formed from Mitsuhide's prior sword motion. The prior sword motion also now has a more bulkier hitbox that breaks guards.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Mitsuhide sheathes his blade, but keeps his hand on it as he adjusts his grip on it. After charging for several seconds, he unsheathes the blade with lightning speed, sending a large flat projectile forward and shattering the screen. Used as his True Musou Attack in Warriors Orochi 3.
Spirit Cancel: Leans forward with his left side while bringing back his blade to his right.
R1: Same as his original R1 + Triangle.
Warriors Orochi 3

Character type changed from Speed to Technique. Loses the ability to air dash, jump cancel and Spirit Charge, but keeps the ability to sidestep; gains the ability to sidestep-dash attack and to critically hit, along with a new Type Action. Also regains his C9.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as before, only the prior launch is weakened to allow the final slash to strike juggled targets properly, albeit the input window is somehow tighter.
R1: Brings back his blade and slashes outward-forward (via also pushing his blade with his free hand akin to his Triangle Special Skill) for a large cutting wave forward, then rushes forward with an inward scooping slash, ending with an alternate version of his C5 that spiral launches (only on airborne hit or when the full chain connects). Activates attributes and break guards on all three hits while hitting on the ground for the final two blows, and stuns on all three attacks independently on a grounded hit. The first two attacks (save for the cutting wave) count as physical blows that interact with destructible objects.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Dives forward with speed and a wind-resistance aura to pass through targets while launching a drawing slash upon landing. Upon connecting, targets are struck multiple times and are spiral-launched; this only effects any targets hit by the prior dive, or any targets Mitsuhide lands next to, but targets too high up may not suffer all hits as a penalty. Can be cancelled into from Mitsuhide's dashing attack, C1 (when he starts to run and during the dashing Square finisher) and C8. Oddly enough, unlike Mitsuhide's C4, this attack's sheathing graphics are off.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Mighty strike is the same as Deadlock Attack. Moveset type is altered to Hyper type. Retains some of his old attacks but they are all altered.

Charge Moveset[]

Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Combines his prior C2 and C5 in that order. The prior C5 will not come out until the first input connects.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Reverts back to his old C3 combo in the first game. The stab effects for the second input are more pronounced with more range with more strikes added in between, and only two strikes of multi-stabs are done upon the said input.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Combines his prior C4 and C8 in that order, making it akin to his very first C4 combo only without the original in-between input. The said prior C8 in the second input also sends out a whirlwind instead, and is able to come out due to the flip-over effect of the prior C4 (which no longer inflicts crashing knockback).
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Same as his original C9, only the full moon visual returns.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Reverts back to 8 inputs total like in the first game, only the two upward-waving slashes via the ninth-to-seventh inputs are now only the sixth and seventh inputs before the finisher, and only loop once. The original sixth and seventh inputs from his prior moveset are removed.

Hyper Moveset[]

Triangle: Quickly slides forward with a downward reaping slash to his left one-handed. Each odd-numbered input involves the aforementioned reaping slash, while each even-numbered input has him slash outward-and-upward along the same line.
Triangle, Square: Slashes downward to his right then left. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Square: A two-handed launching slash to his left after bending down a bit to grip his blade.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: An outward leaning slash forward followed by an inward leaning strike; both slashes are one-handed while the second sends out a cutting wave.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Turns to his right in a full spin to strike with his sheath in a downward-right strike, then slashes to his left with his blade. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: A two-handed slamming chop that sends forward a massive vertical wave.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Stabs his sword into the ground like with his C3 finisher, causing a large quake to erupt.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S6.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle: Ends his Hyper Attack chain by performing two upward criss-crossing slashes one-handed, first to the right then left.
Circle: Finisher changes to Mitsuhide stabbing forward with multiple times slightly upward, then finishes with an upward leaning thrust that sends a blast of white energy that leaves a molt of white feathers afterwards.
Rage Attack/Musou Gokui effect: Activates Ultimate/Kaidan Musou if Circle is used. Performs ending pose for previous Circle if the effect ends without activating Ultimate/Kaidan Musou.
R1: Same as before.

Like Yukimura, Mitsuhide is well-rounded character with good power but somewhat lacking in attack range. Some of his charge attacks are wide-ranged, making him good against crowd control. When confronting enemy generals, it is recommended to perform C6 for defense breaks and C8 for additional damage despite its difficult execution.

Samurai Warriors 2[]

Ground Attacks[]

Triangle, (Triangle): connects her blades together and sends them spinning out in front of her. Pressing the button once more splits the blades apart and they individually come back to her.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle): knocks her foe up with her blades, spins upward to slice them up, and finishes by throwing a bomb down for her enemy's landing.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): a spinning kick that dizzies, flips upside down, connects her blades together, and kicks them so they circle around her.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): She quickly moves forward and slashes a few times before throwing her weapons like boomerangs.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: (Xtreme Legends only) slashes with her dagger and creates two replicas of herself.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: left and right slashes and alternating kicks that ends with a spinning handstand.
X, X: Like all nimble ninja type characters, she can double jump.
X, Triangle: jumps down making a shockwave.
X, Square: throws her daggers downward.
Dashing Square: throws her daggers forward as she crouches to a stop.
Circle: stays in one spot and throws her connected blades in a designated direction. In her True Musou version, she'll finish the attack with a few swipes. In her level 3 version, three copies of her will mimic her. If she's on a horse, energy blasts will appear instead.
R1 + Square, (Square), (Square): She does some hand signals and makes multiple copies of herself that mimic her actions. She can create a maximum of three copies.
R1 + Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Nene spins and transforms into an enemy officer or even a generic soldier. The more button presses will increase the likelihood of turning into a nearby unique officer. If she turns into a unique officer, she'll gain her enemy's moveset but will not be able to do their R1 abilities. The effect wears off when she gets hit by a powerful attack,or when she tries to mount a horse.
Personal Skill: (Agility) Easier to perform flips while in mid-air.

Mounted Attacks[]

Same attacks excluding her C5 and Level 3 Musou. Her R1 attacks have also changed:

X, X: An airdash that makes her temporarily invincible. Nene rolls forward.
R1: Slashes and makes replicas of herself.
Direction + R1: Nene lunges forward, grabs an enemy, and piledrives them into the ground.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Causes weapons to slice at several different angles while being thrown at.
Triple Attack 2: Plants a bomb that immediately explodes.
Triple Attack 3: Throws weapons that momentarily slash at different angles before coming back.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Nene jumps on to her blades which she has turned into a large Shuriken beneath her. She spins around while hovering above the ground slightly, creating a whirlwhind.
Spirit Cancel:

R1: Produces doubles that attack the enemy.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Connects both blades together in the form of a shuriken and hurls them towards the enemy like a boomerang. Does a downward slash afterwards upon gaining them back.

At first glance, Nene appears to be very similar to Kunoichi. This is evident in the way she moves and attacks, especially in her standard and second charge attacks. The main difference between them is their range. Nene's moveset allows her to clear out crowds more effectively at medium range compared to Kunoichi. However, this comes at a cost as Nene struggles more when it comes to fighting individual opponents. Her Musou attack further highlights this difference, as she remains still and sends out her blades in a controlled direction, making it great for hitting multiple enemies but not as effective against officers.

Overall, she should be used more or less as one would use Kunoichi, as what generally applies to her applies to Nene as well. Players should utilize her speed, crowd control, and take care during duels.

Samurai Warriors[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Hovers into the air and shoots a dark energy ball to the ground that stuns opponents. The more the button taps, the more powerful it is and the higher Nobunaga levitates to rev it up.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Launches the enemies in the air with an upward backhanded slash. If the input connects, he will follow them up with an upward slash while turning to his right, then slices them several times (via crisscrossing upward slashes) via an extra higher elevation before slamming them back to the ground with a final downward strike for a clearing quake inflicted by the plummeting target(s). The crisscrossing slashes plus the finisher are both part of the final single input.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Spin-turns to his left for a reaping slash that stuns (singled-handed with his left hand), then twirls around in a leap to smash the ground with his fist causing a darkness geyser that does multiple-hits, and then propels himself forwards spinning like a drill while covered in dark aura. The more the (Triangle) is pressed, the further he'll go.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Cowers a bit sideways to charge a dark aura which is released in a circular shockwave as Nobunaga gestures outward. The more the button is pressed, the wider and more powerful it becomes as Nobunaga delays it; smaller shockwaves emit from Nobunaga that damage nearby foes to prevent interruption.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Inward slash, outward slash, left-handed leftward slash, then four interchanging upward-diagonal slashes starting to the right (and switches weapon hand on each input), ending in a turning outward slash.
Dashing Square: Slides via a light-hover into a braking outward slash.
X, Square: Slashes with his sword outward to the ground.
X, Triangle: Plants his sword into the ground while standing upright, creating a ground-hitting quake.
Circle: Glides along the ground slashing his sword from left to right wildly.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: A upward scooping slash to his right.
Square, Square, Triangle: A downward slash to his right that stuns.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: A quicker-and-mounted version of his C4 that only has a single input.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Rapidly slashes to his right side.
Circle:

Samurai Warriors 2[]

Keeps his mounted moveset excluding his horse Musou, which changes to a horse stampede. His ground moveset was changed slightly due to his attack type (Special).

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, but only the final input can only be achieved while the highest tier of Special Skill 2 is in effect.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, but only the final input can only be achieved while the highest tier of Special Skill 2 is in effect. When not powered-up, the first slash upon Nobunaga reaching the peak (the third Triangle input) can inflict a quake-plummeting effect on its own without the original final slash.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, but only the final input can only be achieved while the highest tier of Special Skill 2 is in effect. The second input now only does a single hit that stuns on grounded hit or inflicts spiraling-crashing knockback on airborne hit.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, but only the final input can only be achieved while the highest tier of Special Skill 2 is in effect.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Xtreme Legends only): Lunging sword-thrust. If he connects, he quickly impales his sword into a foe before retracting it and knocking them away. Activates his R1 + Triangle/Special Skill 2 if successful. Unblockable grab/throw, though it has fairly narrow range.
Circle: Same as before. Level 3 Musou adds random pillars of dark energy that burst out of the ground around him as he dashes.
R1: Levitates for a brief moment.
R1 + Square: Gestures and focuses aura into an energy barrier. Slightly reduces damage and makes Nobunaga flinch much less while in effect, but unless charged to maximum via the second button tap it has a painfully-short duration. The barrier's duration is based on raw damage inflicted instead of the amount of hits done to it; when the barrier is depleted, Nobunaga enters a guard break state.
R1 + Triangle: Runs his hand along his sword, giving him an attack strength, range and attack speed increase per tier momentarily via granting the sword a dark aura. The final extra input also enables the final stages of all charge attack inputs (if they've been unlocked), and extends weapon range slightly. Also has a very short duration, if not charged to maximum via the second button input where Nobunaga runs his hand along his sword in a different fashion.
Personal Skill : (Vehemence) Weapon charge achieved by special move strengthened.
Warriors Orochi

Loses his Level 3 Musou and does not regain his C5 in the sequel. Gains a C1-EX-Special and an Extra Counter. All of his charge attacks have all three-staged inputs by default.

R1: Sends out a dark energy ball that slowly moves forward; akin to his C1 only in a completely different fashion. The ball detonates whenever a C2 or a C3 is performed.
  • If C2 is used, a lingering vortex appears that launches and damages enemies. Notably, there is a glitch where, if paired with Multi, the vortex will also be affected and will hit enemies trapped rapidly instead.
  • If C3 is used, the ball disperses into a shockwave that stuns nearby enemies.
R1 (Counter): Hops with a minor upward knee attack that causes a dark shockwave to emit.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Causes ferocious gales to rise up from the ground.
Triple Attack 2: Slams the ground with fist to generate a strong pillar of wind.
Triple Attack 3: Sends out a ground shockwave moving quickly.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Keeps relatively the same moveset as previous entry with the following changes.

R1: Same as his R1 + Triangle, where that specific input now temporarily increases his attack range and speed for a set duration. The buffs gained are lost if Nobunaga is knocked down.
R1 + Square, (Square): Same as his R1 + Triangle, where the first extra input grants an attack power buff for an extra amount of time that can still be lost from being knocked down unlike a standard attack x2 battlefield item drop (and is indicated with dark energy coils around his sword). Maximum input version grants him extra charge attack inputs with energy feather molts around the sword, and increases the buff duration by another extra.
R1 + Triangle, (Triangle): Same as his R1 + Square, only the strength of the barrier is notably increased on the second Triangle tap compared to the prior installment. However, the barrier will break if Nobunaga is exposed to any form of guard break that is not a bullet, and unblockable attacks can still bypass it. Triangle must be tapped before the first Special Skill activates.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Nobunaga stabs his sword into the ground, and a shockwave of darkness erupts from the tip. Used as his True Musou Attack in Warriors Orochi 3.
Spirit Cancel: Dashes forward as he is flying to rush into targets headfirst.
Warriors Orochi 3

Character type changed from Technique to Wonder. Loses the ability to sidestep, but retains the ability to use Spirit Charge, to critically hit and regains his C5 along with a new Type Action. All charge attacks function more akin to their versions as of Samurai Warriors 2.

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, though only the final-buffed input can activate weapon elements.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, though only the final-buffed input can activate weapon elements.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, though only the final-buffed input can activate weapon elements.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, though only the final-buffed input can activate weapon elements.
R1: Levitates for a while and gestures out his sword, which creates a barrier that temporarily protects the user from harm and strengthens weapon in the process to give him extra charge attack inputs. An amalgamation of both of Nobunaga's Special Skills from the Samurai Warriors series. Cannot be cancelled into from his final C3 input, and slightly puts him in an airborne state during recovery.
X, R1 (Ultimate only): Slowly runs his hand along his sword as he hovers, then slashes downward which unleashes a surge of dark energy via a cutting wave very steep to the ground. Upon hitting the ground, the wave splits into a six-way purple vertical air wave spread, which also powers up Nobunaga's weapon with the charge attack buff. Can be cancelled into upon connecting with his C5, from his jumping charge landing or quickly during the recovery of his grounded R1. The waves themselves can interact with destructible-objects as physical attacks.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Mighty strike is the same as Deadlock attack. Moveset remains the same with the following changes.

Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Same as before, but the maximum R1 + Square buff also allows Nobunaga to use all inputs without needing to have the first input connect onto a target.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Stab forward in a sliding thrust akin to his old C5 (which is no longer a grab) that can break guards, then via the second input slashes outward in a step and points his sword forward to fire three dark cutting waves in a spread. Powers him up with his maximum level R1 + Square buff if the finishing blow is not interrupted.
Circle: Finisher changes to him flinging up darkness from his hands, which splits up into conjured bolts of dark energy to rain down onto foes.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaidan): Same as before.
Rage Attack/Musou Gokui effect: Activates Ultimate/Kaidan Musou if Circle is used. Performs ending pose for previous Circle if the effect ends without activating Ultimate/Kaidan Musou.
Awakened Skill effect (4-II only):
R1 (4-II only): Same as before, only with all versions of the buff, skill levels no longer determine the duration.
  • In Spirit of Sanada, a foamy aura is now added as a proper visual indicator for this buff to be active.
R1 + Triangle, (Triangle): Same as before, only the barrier's duration cannot be refreshed by inputting the command if one is already active.

Hyper Moveset[]

Triangle: Slides forward quickly as he reaps forward back and forth with his sword in advancing lunges, with each odd-numbered input swinging inward, and each even-numbered input swinging outward.
Triangle, Square: A one-handed outward slash upward that launches, akin to a single-handed version of his C2 first input. Can be interrupted into normal attacks.
Triangle, Triangle, Square: Glides for a bit to perform three slashes in a row; an inward slash, outward slash, then a spinning inward slash which covers some distance.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S2.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Same as his Hyper S3.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square: Levitates into the air to fire a single dark orb downward which unleashes a shockwave. Akin to his original C1 attack.
Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle: Ends his Hyper Attack string with a turning outward slash to the right.

Fighting Style[]

Samurai Warriors[]

Nobunaga wields a two-edged straight sword imbued with dark energy and has the power to hurl a dark "force" blast at his foes. His combative technique is useful in both crowds and one-on-one combat as it is very forward and direct with few relative openings - those only generally seen when he does in fact, power up his 'force' moves. His Musou attack is one of the hardest to control in all of the games because it is the fastest and the angle at which he turns makes it harder to hit enemies. His technique also effectively shows him 'gliding' and levitating in various strikes, further emphasizing his 'magical' properties.

Warriors Orochi[]

In Warriors Orochi, Nobunaga's moveset is still the same as the one he had in Samurai Warriors 2. However, Warriors Orochi does not include the Special Skills from the Samurai Warriors series, thus not allowing Nobunaga to "power up" his moves but his final C1, C2, C3 and C4 move stages are readily available one a certain level is reached, thus placing him on the "Charge" moveset while the movelist in the game only shows 2 buttons instead of 3. With this, Nobunaga is a balanced character who can clear crowds easily with his C1, C3 and C4 moves while maintaining good one-on-one combat through normal moves or C2. As he is a Technique-type character, he can strengthen his charge attack moves for more varied hitboxes on top of making use of his C1-EX-SP's unique properties to control space and/or proc solid damage at opportune moments.

In Warriors Orochi 3 however, he reverts back to being more akin to his older-self due to his Type Action reverting to a combination of his original Special Skills. His new midair Type Action in the Ultimate expansion is a new tool that does massive damage when fired point-blank due to the clustering of projectiles, allowing him to take out enemy generals on higher difficulties with ease, as well as generate combo into dense crowds with a Spirit Charge via the Echo attribute. However, only the powered-up final inputs of his charge attacks activate sustaining attributes apart from his normal attack string's final input.

Samurai Warriors[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): She moves forward while pointing ahead and twirls her ball in a circle to move faster. She stops by breaking on her heels. Tapping a button makes her dash even further.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): launches foes with her ball in an upwards swing. Twirls to hit them once more with a downwards swing. Poses for a damaging aura that restores her Musou.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): a wide smack with her ball before she twirls to kick the ball around her. She performs a series of hops forward, twirling her ball to her right as she does.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): She spins around with her ball in front of her, hitting enemies around her. She finishes by doing a somersault and twisting the ball. If she spins too much, she gets dizzy and needs to recover.
X, Triangle: flips in the air to smash the ground with both of her feet.
X, Square: a low bop forward.
Circle: Points with her hand forward before she playfully spins her ball in the air above her head, skipping forward as she does. In her true Musou, she ends with her C1.
Deadlock attack:

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: drags her ball low to the ground before hefting it upwards. Launches foes.
Square, Square, Triangle: hurls ball straight to her right, stunning nearby foes.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: sends her ball straight to the right. Oichi waves her left arm rapidly in order to balance herself upright.
Circle: Series of swings to her right.

Fighting Style[]

Oichi has long reach and a good crowd clearer with her kendama. Her C4 can easily clear the whole crowd or at least knock them down. In return, she lacks attack, as she has one of the lowest attack stats within all characters in Samurai Warriors.

Samurai Warriors 2[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle: quickly spins her ball to the right before smacking forward.
Square, Triangle: turning swing that launches.
Square, Square, Triangle: harsh swing to her left, smacking her ball horizontally.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): holds her arms outstretched in front of her and spins in one place. Tapping Triangle allows her to spin more times.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: She spins and lifts her arms up. A blue wind surrounds her and sends her enemies flying up.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: overhead smack on the ground that stuns foes.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: spins her ball in front of her, making a whizzing sound. Creates a miniature whirlwind that sends foes flying.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: (Xtreme Legends only) stands upright as she poses with her arm in the air. She gains a small health boost if she finishes.
Circle: mostly the same as before except she walks forward. Ends her true musou by attacking with three low swings. In her level 3 version, she is surrounded by a series of rapid pink whirlwinds.
R1 + Square: hunches into a cheering position, emitting a golden bubble around her. Allies near her will either gain a random status boost or have a small portion of their health replenished. Successful attempts in using this skill results in gaining more Musou.
R1 + Triangle: brings her arm back before pointing forward, emitting a golden aura. Calls forth a temporary back-up unit that disappears over time.
Personal Skill : (Finesse) Jump after executing a charge attack.

Mounted Moveset[]

Like all other characters, her horse musou changes to a horse stampede.

Square, Triangle: same as before.
Square, Square, Triangle: same as before.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: twirls the ball twice around her head, hitting both sides with a figure eight motion.
Warriors Orochi

Same attacks excluding her C9 and Level 3 Musou. Her R1 attacks have also changed:

R1: a harsh swing to her front, hitting foes within its range for a huge amount of damage.
R1 (counter): sinks low to the ground as she quickly spins her ball above her.
Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Does a somersault that produces a strong gust in the user's wake.
Triple Attack 2: Strikes the ground fiercely, causing it to tremble from the impact.
Triple Attack 3: Spins around to conjure a massive hurricane surrounding the user's range.

Fighting Style[]

In the sequel she is turned into the normal type character and is more efficient in crowd clearing due to her having more attacks. Her C4, C5, C7 and C8 are mainly for crowd clearing while the rest are one on one moves, however her C7 is also a good one on one move however she still retains her low attack power.

Oichi uses her Samurai Warriors 2 move set for the first two Warriors Orochi titles. Her R1 is quite powerful.

Samurai Warriors 3[]

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Oichi brings two of her four sakura hoops on her right hand forward, with the bladed hoops continuously spinning and keeping opponents in the air. She does the same thing but with the sakura hoops on her left hand and combines all four chakrams together on her right hand and makes an upward swipe.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): She swipes the hoops in her right hand upwards to make the opponent(s) airborne, throws all of her hoops towards the opponent(s) and leaps towards them and slams them on the ground.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): Oichi moves her weapons in a cross shape and then swings her right chakrams to the right to defeat her enemies.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): She twirls to the right with her right arm up and her left arm sideways, leaps forward while swiping her weapons to the left and leans forward with her weapon spinning twice around her, clearing any enemy that is around her.

Running + Square: Oichi runs forward and jumps forward while spinning in the air.
X, Triangle: She jumps and lands, making a shockwave while spinning on the ground.
X, Square: She swipes her right hoops downward.
Circle: Oichi makes her sakura hoops spin continuously around her and makes a shockwave at the end of her Musou attack. She performs her last three normal moves of her moveset and releases a more powerful shockwave with her head looking down for her True Musou attack. Players can choose to do this or perform her usual moveset like any other character instead.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): She performs her True Musou attacks excluding the ending and at the end, Oichi releases four spinning pillars of pink light that damage any enemy within a large radius.
Spirit Cancel: Oichi places her sakura hoops in front of her and pushes forward, breaking the opponent's block or lifting enemies lying on the ground.
Deadlock attack: Oichi puts her weapons around the opponent and then pull them back out, appearing to have cut through them.
R1: Oichi twirls around and envelops herself in a radiant aura, slightly healing nearby allies and gaining Musou in turn.

Mounted Moveset[]

Square, Triangle: Upward swing with a single hoop.
Square, Square, Triangle: Lowers one hoop to bash opponent's heads.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle):
Circle: Finisher changes to her being surrounded by a damaging torrent littered with flower petals.
Rage Attack/Musou Gokui effect: Activates Ultimate/Kaidan Musou if Circle is used. Performs ending pose for previous Circle if the effect ends without activating Ultimate/Kaidan Musou.

Samurai Warriors[]

In Samurai Warriors 3, she is turned back into the charge type character. Her move set is more balanced against generals than before. She loses her long reach and remains vulnerable from behind; however, she still can clear crowds with ease using her C4 and C5. She is somewhat slower so a good speed weapon is recommended. Her C3 is also a good clearer while still being a good one on one move. She still retains her low attack in this game as well.

Warriors Orochi[]

She turns into a Speed type in Warriors Orochi 3. Her R1 has invincibility frames and has uses whatever attributes she has on her weapons. It is recommended to use this move consistently to kill crowds.

Circle: Does a wide sweep.

Samurai Warriors 2[]

He loses some of the finishing moves at the end of his original moveset and changes some of his ground moves slightly. However, his mounted moveset remains the same except for his horse musou, which now becomes a powerful stampede like the rest of the characters.

Ground Moveset[]

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle):Ranmaru charges his sword and swings it through the air, creating a powerful wave of energy. The longer he charges, the larger the wave becomes, capable of breaking through his opponent's defense.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle):Ranmaru stabs the enemy and tosses them in the air. He then runs past them with his blade striking them back into the air, and runs back before they hit the ground.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Ranmaru does a quick down slash. He then does a slash from right to left, and another from left to right knocking them back. He then runs forward with a shockwave trailing from his blade and lets it loose as he meets them.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle): Ranmaru does a powerful falling diagonal strike, followed by a rising strike to send them flying. He then turn around and makes a huge slash cutting a wave in the air in front of him.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle:(Xtreme Legends only) Single diagonal slash tipped with the Slay element. Creates a temporary mirror image of Ranmaru.

R1 + Triangle: Ranmaru assumes a stance to up his attack but lowers his defense.
Personal Skill : (Facility) Evade while performing a charge attack.

Warriors Orochi 2
Triple Attack 1: Performs a heavy slash with enough power to hurl air gusts forward.
Triple Attack 2: Sends out a wide stream of wind in front of the user.
Triple Attack 3: Slashes forward while crouching, causing air currents to fly at mid-range.

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Mighty strike is the same as Deadlock attack. Moveset remains relatively the same with the following changes.

Samurai Warriors[]

Ranmaru is really good at clearing out crowds because his attacks cover a big area thanks to his nodachi. He's also got strong attacks and can shoot projectiles, which makes it easy for him to take out lots of enemies at once. He's pretty good at fighting generals too, but he's not the best because he can't break through their defenses. Ranmaru isn't very fast or good at defending himself, so he's an easy target for enemies. If you're fighting a general, try to stay away from the middle of the crowd and stick to the edges.

His C1 can be charged and used if a large group is headed towards Ranmaru to break them up. The C2 will damage a general and weaken the crowds around him. His C3 can help to separate generals from a crowd. His C4 is an all purpose attack that can damage generals greatly and crowds. His Musou absolutely rips up crowds with great power, speed, range and area, and is fairly damaging to generals too. His R1 + Square is a mainly used against generals as it hits hard and fast. His R1 + Triangle is for quickly dealing with a group or general, but should not be used if Ranmaru is overwhelmed as it weakens his defense more.
