Innocentis VII (brother)
Guiscard (ギスカール) is a secondary antagonist in The Heroic Legend of Arslan and Arslan: The Warriors of Legend. A capable politician who excels in military and government affairs, he is the de facto leader of Lusitania. He deals with everything that isn't related to his older brother's indulgences. After the Lusitanian army subjugates Ecbatana, Guiscard keeps the peace and attempts to win back the people's trust after Bodan's scare tactics. His judgments lead to a separation between the church and state.
Guiscard is ambitiously counting the days to his rightful reign. He is a devious and precise schemer who ruthlessly manipulates the system to destroy his opponents. His plans often have gumption that his fellow extremists never consider, and many men would rather side with him than against him. For as villainous as he may seem, Guiscard does not believe in his kingdom's god or practiced religion, thinking it barbaric and revolting. His comparatively humane political decrees shape him into an unlikely hero for the commoners.
As a disbeliever of his religion, Guiscard is naturally Bodan's worst enemy. Both men would jump at the chance to destroy the other's reputation. The duke wouldn't feel a shred of remorse if Bodan were to die cursing his name.
