Role in GamesEdit
In Dynasty Warriors, Han Zong makes his only appearance during the Battle of Dongxing in Jin's story mode. In Dynasty Warriors 7, he attacks the western castle and falls into an ambush by the Wu forces and has to be rescued twice by both Zhuge Dan and Wang Yuanji. In the sequel's version of the battle, he follows Zhuge Dan on the western part together with the other officers.
Han Zong was Han Dang's son who served Sun Quan after his father's death. In 227, Han Zong was ordered by Sun Quan to guard Wuchang, while the latter attacked Wei at Shiyang. However, Han Zong abused his authority. Sun Quan, wanting to honor Han Deng's reputation, excused his retainer's son and permitted him the special order to never be put into danger during battle. However, Han Zong feared facing eventual punishment. He forced his sisters and other female relatives to marry his subordinates to win their trust, then he took his father's coffin, mother and other immediate family members to Wei, surrendering soon after. With his knowledge, it was easier for Wei to burst through Wu's borders, which was said to have caused Sun Quan to be particularly disdainful whenever he heard Han Zong's name. Han Zong was named Marquis of Guangyang and would often raid Wu's borders, killing many civilians in the process. After Sun Quan passed away, Han Zong participated in the Battle of Dongxing, during which he was defeated and slain. Zhuge Ke ordered Han Zong's head to be cut off and presented before Sun Quan's grave.
Romance of the Three KingdomsEdit
Han Zong appears in chapter 108 of the novel, where he fought at the battle of Dongxing. He was sent by Hu Zun together with Huan Jia to assault the flanks of the Wu forces. However, the fortresses were well defended and the Wei forces unable to overcome them, so they retreated. Han Zong later fell into an ambush at the shores. Taken by surprise, Han Zong tried to grab a spear at the commander's tent, but he was stabbed in the breast by Ding Feng.
