Harukanaru Toki no Naka de Banjoyuugi (遙かなる時空の中で-盤上遊戯-, Banjoyuugi translated as "The Board Game") is the Haruka multiplayer party game foil to its Neoromance predecessors, Fushigi no Kuni no Angelique and Sweet Ange. It is the first game in the series to be fully voiced —excluding the normally mute protagonist.

The Premium Box edition includes real-life reproductions of the Eight Guardians' favorite incense, which used to be sold as regular merchandise on Gamecity Shopping.

Plot[]

In a parallel world, the protagonist and her friends encounter three dream versions of the White Dragon Priestess, each claiming to be part of her divided consciousness. They compete to expose an impostor preventing her return to reality by retrieving legendary treasures.

Gameplay[]

General[]

Before the game begins, the player can determine the length of their game (maximum turn count) and the number of active players. Players can play against three other human or AI players. The turn order between them is decided by chance before the story introduction. Protagonists can be renamed, but here are the default names for each version.

Pink hair - Akane
Green hair - Wakaba
Blue hair - Ruri
Blonde hair - Kurumi

Priestesss chooses one of the Eight Guardians to escort her, and a player advances in the direction they wish on the Kyoto map. Locations may trigger events or rewards, with guardian effects affecting outcomes. Players can hold up to eight items each. Actions are simplified to Attack, Fuda, or Flee, with fuda allowing healing items or spells. Five Elements affect battle outcomes, with the strength of guardians determined by drawing numbered fuda. Winning against vengeful spirits can lead to a chance to seal them, while losing results can be exploited by other players.

A demon clan can obstruct priestess teams, causing crippling effects or sending them back to Fujihime's manor. Defeating them rewards a rare summoning fuda and unleashes stronger Akram. Multiple priestesses can peacefully trade or fight, with PVP battles leading to item theft. Fujihime informs priestesses of a legendary treasure, and the first player to claim it gains Trust Points, which affect player evaluation every fifteen days.

Character Routes[]

The game involves guardians with "Feeling" ratings that can be increased through travel, battles, and experiences. Players can give guardians their favorite gifts, and when traveling with other priestesses, their intimacy ratings decrease. Heart Pieces can be collected and used to give a priestess a letter, which automatically boosts their intimacy. Romance endings can be viewed if the winning priestess has a 750 Feeling rating.
