Role in Games[]

Kikka is Ōka's younger sister. She was born in Unzen, the main city of Nakatsu Kuni, where the government is located. Kikka has always had strong psychic abilities, so she was trained to become a Barrier Priestess. Her role is to protect the village from demons by creating a magical barrier made of stone pillars. Kikka can also project herself into a demon to gather information and sense a soul's memories. However, using her powers drains her physical strength, so she spends most of her time indoors.

When the protagonist arrives, Kikka is chosen to be Utakata's priestess. They first meet when Kikka is playing outside and they find a stray Tenko. She gives it to the protagonist before returning to the Slayers' headquarters for a proper introduction. Shūsui, another member of the group, suggests a plan to strengthen Kikka's barrier in private. Kikka is hesitant because she's worried about the strain it might put on her. Suddenly, the demons become more aggressive and break through the barrier. The Slayers split up to deal with them individually. To stay connected with the protagonist, Kikka gives them a shard of her previous barrier, allowing them to communicate with each other.

Kikka agrees to make the barrier stronger after the warriors almost had a disaster. But it makes her heart very stressed and she collapses. Nagi helps her wake up and she gets back to work quickly. Kikka talks to the protagonist's party through her shard and tells them to ignore the small demons and focus on the big one. She is happy to help and takes a break with the protagonist on their holiday. They walk around the village together.

Yamato wants to stop the invaders completely. He tells the Slayers to free the souls of dead heroes so the protagonist can learn about the demons. Kikka uses her powers to help them find the commanding demon. They finally find it and Utakata Village is safe for now.

During these events, Kikka's body has been wilting away. She lies that she is suffering from a cold, yet the mental stress becomes too much for her to bear. When the threat of another "Awakening" looms near, Kikka breaks down in the protagonist's arms and admits to them her fears of dying. Ōka happened to witness her sister's confession and commits herself to a suicidal charge to close the dimensional portal. As the protagonist and company fight beside Ōka, Kikka shares through the shard her wishes for her sister to keep living. The siblings become closer after the incident.

After a grueling battle, the protagonist uses her shard and his/her powers to seal the portal at the end of the main story. Like Kikka had anticipated he/she becomes their age's "innovator", or the "demon" who keeps the demons at bay. She is well enough to welcome the Slayers back to Utakata Village.

Kiwami has Kikka peacefully spend her days trying to cook good food for Horou, often mistaking ingredients in local recipes for inedible or poisonous ingredients. When the "Eclipse Demon" conjures a portal within her barrier, Yamato initially concedes to Kuyou's advice to abandon the village. Kikka is to remain behind to keep the barrier up for everyone's evacuation. After her sister and friends leave for a do-or-die resistance, Kikka convinces Yamato to change his mind off-screen and hurries to the battlefield. She personally uses her powers to shield Ouka and Souma from a Gouenma's attack. Kuyou escorts her back to the village afterward. While her sister returns to chastise her recklessness, the priestess is proud to have finally protected those dearest to her.

When her soul is being consumed by Izuchikanata, she is deluded into regressing back to her childhood. She cries in her loneliness and whines for her sister to find her. Kikka recovers and siphons her priestess powers with Kyokai to pinpoint the giant demon's location.

Personality[]

Kikka is a kind and sheltered girl who loves her neighbors and wants to help them. She sometimes misunderstands things that are not related to her duties because of her upbringing. She wishes she could be free and feels sad about her responsibilities. She envies her sister's strength and wishes she could fight too. Kikka often feels like a burden to others because she is always surrounded by guards or escorts.

Even though she is not very strong, Kikka is determined to protect others. She is willing to do anything she can to help, even if it puts her in danger. Kikka is just as dedicated to her duties as her sister Ōka. They are both serious and willing to sacrifice themselves when needed.
