The battles of Kuangting and Fengqiu was an engagement between Cao Cao's forces and those under Yuan Shu during the year 193. Yuan Shu was soundly defeated and this helped bolster Cao Cao's reputation throughout Yan Province.
Role in games[]
In Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, the player controls Sun Ce and his army, allied with Yuan Shu. They rescue Yuan Shu's allies in garrisons, while circling to the undermanned east of the Wei formation to take out Guo Jia. Defeating Guo Jia prompts Cao Cao to be undermanned, prompting an assault by the allied forces. This battle appears in Dynasty Warriors 9, where Cao Cao is allied with Yuan Shao against Yuan Shu. Yuan Shao assesses the condition of Wei officers and captures garrisons, causing Yuan Shu's army to lose momentum. Cao Cao eventually outmatches Yuan Shu's army, leading to a general retreat.
