In Saihai no Yukue, he is 63 years old and his height is 145 cm (4'9"). He plays games with his bird as a hobby. He doesn't like to eat egg or chicken dishes.
Role in GamesEdit
In Samurai Warriors 2, Masanobu serves in many of Ieyasu's campaigns such as Anegawa and Komaki Nagakute. As Hidetada's adviser at Ueda Castle, he urges the army to quickly take the castle or they'll be late to reinforce their lord at Sekigahara. Once Masayuki's flood attack is successful, Masanobu realizes that they blundered and will not make it in time for the battle. Frustrated, he tells the remaining army to take either Masayuki or Yukimura's head to save face for their failure. During Kojirō's Story Mode in the Xtreme Legends expansion, he schemed to frame Hideyori for attempting to kill his lord and is surprised when a real assassination attempt was actually in progress.
Although his name isn't always mentioned, Masanobu is also the elderly man who is sometimes seen beside Ieyasu during cutscenes.
Often known as "Masa", he continues to act as one of Ieyasu's closest generals in Kessen. He frequently appears during the planning stages to present his lord with information. He does not fight until after Sekigahara. Intelligent and skilled in politics, he leads a very small group of archers into battle; his army rarely reaches the thousands range. Since Masa is often a mandatory character, it may be best to have him pursue smaller units due to his low War rating.
Saihai no YukueEdit
Masanobu is shown through a flashback in Saihai no Yukue. A schemer and an unpopular villain, Mitsunari and his group need to confront him to gain passage to Ieyasu's residence. The youth challenges him to a debate, wanting to know why Masanobu tried to assassinate him with ninja. Masanobu feigns ignorance and states that Mitsunari has no concrete evidence to charge him. Since Hatsu is there with Mitsunari, the item he needs is quickly assembled. Once Masanobu is presented with the letter he wrote to kill Mitsunari, he reluctantly leads them to his lord's mansion. He continues to protest housing their enemy to Ieyasu, but his lord quickly silences him with each attempt.
The name of his pet bird is Himeyomogi.
