Roles in GamesEdit
Sima Lang appears as a minor officer for Cao Cao during the early battles of Wei in Dynasty Warriors 7. He is also present in Sima Yi's and Zhuge Liang's legendary stage that has the Sima and Zhuge families face off against each other at Hefei Castle.
In Dynasty Warriors 8, Sima Lang is among the officer who lead the last party of reinforcements for Cao Cao's forces in Liu Bei's defense of Xu Province. He further appears at Nanjun in Wu's story, defending the path east of the garrison in which Zhou Yu attempts his first decoy strategy.
Warriors Orochi 3 has him replace Sima Yi when players select the latter as part of their attack team.
In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Sima Lang is a decent domestic officer with high political and charismatic skills.
Sima Lang was born in Henei, Si Province. He was the son of Sima Fang who served in the capital Luoyang. When Dong Zhuo took control of Luoyang, Sima Lang escaped with his family to Henei and brought them to safety. He then went on to serve Cao Cao and was appointed regional governor as well as director of provincial regions. Whenever he made new policies, he always had the common people in mind, which in turn made them admire Sima Lang greatly. His accomplishments were recognized by Cao Cao who further promoted him to assistant to the Prime Minister and finally to governor of Yan Province, continuing his style of administration.
Sima Lang often praised the abilities of his younger brother Sima Yi, going as far as saying, "I don't even come close to matching his abilities." In 217, Sima Lang accompanied Xiahou Dun and Zang Ba on an expedition against Wu. However, a terrible illness struck Cao Cao's camp and many soldiers, among them Sima Lang, fell ill. Sima Lang refused to take any medicine and instead distributed it to his soldiers. He died soon afterwards.
Romance of the Three KingdomsEdit
In the novel, Sima Lang is only mentioned in chapter 39 during the introduction of Sima Yi, being Sima Yi's older brother and serving as Secretary General in Cao Cao's forces.
