An oldie but goodie. A fun little movie showing off the PS3's capabilities using Guan Yu. Kyosei 19:36, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Army God....?[]

In the Japanese script of the Musou Warriors games, it would seem that his title of "God of War" is romanized as the "Array God" (陣神, Jinshin). I can't tell if this is correctly dragged from a proper source since googling 陣神 関羽 leads me to some irrelevant links; they don't even speak his title of "God of War" in Chinese either. UPDATE: SHIT! Yeah...I got it wrong. It's "ARMY GOD" (軍神, Gunshin), NOT ARRAY GOD. My bad. SneaselSawashiro (talk) 23:45, February 28, 2016 (UTC)

Honest question without promoting shit[]

Anyway, I'm going to bring up this question that sounds like it's from a very obvious source that I'm not going to bother bringing up (otherwise more red cards on my ass; how many of those have I gotten?)

I have heard supposedly, Guan Yu was all talk and no actual might. TL; DR, he was an incompetent arrogant asshat. Aside from his historically poor management of the campaign in Xiang'yang a la Fan Castle, I've heard some other infamous stuff about his attitude beforehand (such as being "offended" by Huang Zhong sharing the same rank as him and deeming Ma Chao as inferior in skill alongside him).

Again, this sadly is coming from a dumbass (e.g. me) who can't bother to really look at the WHOLE ENTIRE Sanguozhi or any other biographies.

If that's the case, then I have no idea how Shu was even able to hold their own (aside from positive stuff I've heard about Wei Yan, Pang Tong and Fa Zheng's efforts despite Fa Zheng being quite an infamous man in his own regard). --SneaselSawashiro (talk) 04:47, April 6, 2016 (UTC)

No one is "too dumb" to learn history. You're technically living and making it. Whether your name will be remembered or not is up another matter.
Evil is an abstract concept that changes with the times. If you go by the idea that "murder is evil" and "war is wrong", then nearly every male historical figure on this wiki would be evil. Many of them have either ordered, contributed, schemed or personally killed in some way. When you're living in the midst of it, it might be easy to adopt the "us vs. them" mentality if your livelihood is at stake. The winners and losers have lionized after their deaths to look "better" or "worse" than others.
But in the eyes of objective history, there are no just wars. Ideals and territories were built on a mountain of corpses. Lands have been ravaged. Treasures have been destroyed and lost. People have suffered and died. Women were raped and abused carelessly. If commoners were lucky, the local governors would be caring to their needs; it was more likely that they were stripped of their crops for "war supplies" and potentially faced daily starvation. And disease didn't care about who it claimed. There's no flowery words that can magically make these realities go away.
What you should be really asking is whether or not your definitions of people are the same or different from what has been written. Do you agree with what Chen Shou says about Liu Shan or what the Hanjin Chunqiu says? Are you satisfied with accepting their observations alone or do you believe that there could be more to him that they're missing?
Why don't you actually sit down and read the historical sources yourself? Or failing that, go and stalk or join a community dedicated to discussing the ins and outs of Three Kingdoms history? You should really try to form your own opinion from the source if you want to learn the best from it. Not from someone else's opinion. Sake neko (talk) 05:22, April 6, 2016 (UTC)
